Josh Giddey NBA News & Injury Updates
Updated
Injury/Illness - Left Wrist Sprain (2026-10-23, CHI@MIL). Prior reporting (2026-10-22): Giddey (wrist) is probable for Friday's game against the Bucks. The star guard is expected to suit up for the first half of this back-to-back set. Giddey will be looking to right the ship after scoring just two points during Wednesday's blowout loss in Toronto.
Chicago has focused primarily on frontcourt additions so far this offseason with their recent moves, setting up Giddey with plenty of talent around him for playmaking opportunities. Anfernee Simons (wrist) and Collin Sexton are both unrestricted free agents this summer, potentially leaving Giddey with a ton of usage on his plate in the backcourt next season.
Giddey is scheduled to start basketball activities in approximately three months and is expected to return for the start of training camp, so this is unlikely to impact his stock ahead of fantasy basketball drafts. Across 54 regular-season appearances for the Bulls in 2025-26, Giddey averaged 17.0 points, 9.1 assists, 8.3 rebounds, 1.9 three-pointers and 1.0 steals in 32.1 minutes per game.
Giddey will be sidelined for the remainder of the season as he continues to deal with a lingering hamstring strain. Head coach Billy Donovan confirmed Friday that Giddey-along with Gerschon Yabusele, Nick Richards, Jalen Smith, and Anfernee Simons-will be held out for the Bulls' final two contests against the Magic and Mavericks. Giddey's second season in Chicago ends with him appearing in only one of the team's final seven games. In his absence, Tre Jones and Collin Sexton (finger) will continue to handle primary backcourt duties and should remain high-usage options for the final weekend of the regular season.
