How to Read MLB Betting Odds
The total (O/U) is the combined run line set by oddsmakers. Betting the Over means you expect both teams to score more than the total; Under means fewer. Team totals show the implied run expectation for each team individually.
Run Line & Spread
The run line in baseball is typically set at ±1.5 runs, similar to a point spread in other sports. The favorite gives 1.5 runs; the underdog gets 1.5.
Umpire K+ Boost
The umpire K+ column shows how a plate umpire's historical tendencies affect expected strikeouts — a positive number means more Ks than average, which is useful for pitcher strikeout props.
Data Source & Methodology
Betting odds are sourced from major US sportsbooks via The Odds API and updated throughout the day during the MLB season. Umpire strikeout tendencies are calculated from historical plate appearance data.
