San Diego Padres Inactives

Updated November 4, 2026Giolito landed on the injured list June 23 due to right elbow inflammation but was able to resume light throwing within a week. However, the veteran pitcher hasn't yet progressed to facing hitters, and it's unclear how far away a minor-league rehab assignment may be. By the time Giolito is ready to rejoin the Padres, both Joe Musgrove (elbow) and Nick Pivetta (forearm) may have returned to action, which could impact Giolito's place in the rotation following the trade-deadline acquisitions of Robbie Ray and Casey Mize.
Rengifo was diagnosed with complete ACL tear and MCL sprain of his right knee Monday, so the move to the 60-day IL is hardly a surprise with him out for the season. The 29-year-old opened the campaign with the Brewers but was cut loose after posting a .534 OPS in 57 games, but he then signed with the Padres and found success with a .784 OPS in 38 contests prior to the injury.
When Laureano underwent right hip surgery in early June, he was given a return timeline of 4-to-5 months. Though the veteran outfielder has been able to work his way up to swinging a bat and doing some throwing, that initial timeline doesn't appear to have changed. It still seems likely that Laureano's next game action won't take place until 2027, though there may be an outside chance he will return in October if San Diego makes a deep run in the playoffs.
The transaction was made in order to free a spot on the 40-man roster for Joe Musgrove (elbow), who was activated from the 60-day IL. Duran should recover from his forearm injury well ahead of spring training.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who is injured on San Diego Padres?
- The Injuries tab shows all San Diego Padres players currently on the injured list (10-Day IL, 15-Day IL, 60-Day IL) or listed as day-to-day. Each entry includes the injury type, status, and date — updated daily from official MLB sources.
What is the difference between IL stints in MLB?
- The 10-Day IL is for short-term injuries (minimum 10 days missed). The 15-Day IL applies to pitchers and longer recovery times. The 60-Day IL is for season-threatening injuries — players on the 60-Day IL do not count against the 40-man roster, freeing a spot for a replacement.
How do injuries affect MLB DFS and betting?
- Key injuries directly impact team totals, run lines, and DFS value. A missing ace pitcher lowers the team's implied run prevention; a missing cleanup hitter reduces the team total. For DFS, injuries create value for replacement players who slot into the starting lineup at lower ownership and salary.
