Will Fuller is for Real
It happens every year. Whether its the preseason, first game of the season, or multiple games into the season, one of the top picks in fantasy football will get hurt pulling the metaphorical chair out from your fantasy season. Throughout this season, I will try to remedy situations like this with a weekly dose of wide receiver waiver wire adds that can help you through the highs and lows of fantasy football. All of these players, like Will Fuller, will be available in at least 50% of Yahoo leagues. For some more info and fun visit the forums page and twitter.
My top add of the week is Houston Texan Will Fuller. Owned in 49% of Yahoo leagues Fuller barely makes the cut, but needs to be owned in every league and every format of fantasy. Opposite of elite fantasy receiver DeAndre “Nuke” Hopkins, Will Fuller led his team with 11 targets hauling in 5 catches for 107 yards and a touchdown. I definitely do not expect him to get that kind of target production every week, but a player that ran a 4.3 40 yard dash at the NFL combine on the team that led the league in pass attempts last year should be owned everywhere. His 21.4 yards per catch in week one should be close to sustainable if he continues to get deep looks and use his elite speed to blow past defenders. Get Will Fuller while you can.
The next player on my must add list is Tennessee Titan Tajae Sharpe. Available in 54% of Yahoo leagues, Sharpe proved the preseason hype to be right by leading his team in targets with 11, and catching 7 balls for 76 yards. In comparison, his last two years at Massachusetts, he caught 85 then 111 balls averaging about 1300 yards per year over that two year time span. In conclusion a volume receiver like this can obtain week to week success just by the amount of targets and receptions alone not needing a truly explosive offense. He will be owned in all leagues before you know it.
Remember Mike Wallace?
I’m sure you’re having flashbacks right now due to him ruining your fantasy week after posting a huge day. Well he’s back on fantasy radar on the Baltimore Ravens and only 0wned in 34% of Yahoo leagues. Over his 8 seasons in the NFL Wallace has averaged over 15 yards per catch and almost 60 yards per game but we all know that he is bound to put up quite a few stinkers throughout the season. Just to remind us on what he can do, Wallace caught 3 balls for 91 yards and a touchdown on only 6 targets thrown his way. This can cause some frustration throughout the season but he’s worth a pickup if you need some depth at Wide Receiver.
Now lets go to San Diego where it’s looking like Tyrell Williams might be the best waiver option as a result Keenan Allen’s injury. Already on my radar heading into the season, Williams’ 1% of Yahoo league ownership is bound to change after people realize that his 6’4” size and 4.4 speed will actually translate to some fantasy production now that the #1 receiver is gone. His five targets were 3rd for the wide receivers after Keenan Allen and Travis Benjamin, but his 2 catches for 71 yards show is explosive ability. We already know what Dontrelle Inman is and I don’t see him making a significant contribution.
Davante Adams- Green Bay Packers 8% owned. 3rd receiver with the best QB in the NFL. 7 targets, 3 catches, 50 yards, and a TD.
Terrelle Pryor- Cleveland Browns 16% owned. This might not be a bad idea for a team that just got torched by a rookie QB. They’re going to throw a lot. 7 targets, 3 catches, 68 yards.
Victor Cruz- New York Giants 18% owned. He danced the Salsa on Sunday and he finally looks healthy again. He just has to beat out rookie Sterling Shepard for targets. 4 targets, 4 catches, 34 yards, and a touchdown.
Good luck out there.
