Last night was a roller coaster and even with Clevinger I still managed to see green in all cash games. After the slate was over I seen quite a bit of winning lines in the chat again, so overall another solid night for the MLB team. I’m going to switch things up a bit and today’s Round the Bases will be for the eight game early slate on DraftKings. There is also a main tonight which has six games, one being Coors, so I wanted to cover the better cash slate. I will be in chat for both slates along with all our other analyst as we get you ready to keep the fire going. I will also have a write up on London Stadium in the #MLB-Slate-Notes page in discord chat. It is very important to check into our FTA Discord Chat each night as some of my plays here might change as lineups start coming out. Check out our A.C.E. Projection System as well to help with building your winning lineups. You can also follow and DM me on twitter @DRockDFS.
Jordan Yamamoto, MIA ($9100)
If you have been watching this kid, you have been having a good time along with your bank roll seeing an increase. He is at home against the Phillies who struggle against RHP more than then what they do against LHP. My phone actually just went off saying Jay Bruce has been scratched which makes me like this even more. Yamamoto in 3 starts so far has a 27.5% K rate. Yes his numbers suggest he has been lucky as he has a .095 ERA to go with a 4.49 SIERA and a 4.6 xFIP. He has a 50% FB rate but Marlins Park is a big help when it comes to fly balls. The Phillies have a 22.9% K rate, .176 ISO and a .312 wOBA against RHP and get a decent park downgrade being in Miami. I’m willing to ride the luck today and even willing to go as far as saying Yamamoto is my SP1 today.
RHP Zach Eflin (PHI, $9300) is on the other side of Yamamoto today and will draw some attention. Dating back to last year he has given up a .282 wOBA with a 4.1 xFIP against RHB and Miami will be loaded with righties today. The only worry for me is Eflin’s inability to get strike outs but Miami has a 25% K rate and ranks last in ISO (.116) and second to last in wOBA (.282) against RHP this season. Just like Yamamoto, he gets the park advantage of pitching in Miami as well.
RHP Homer Bailey (KC, $7100) is on a mission his last three starts giving up only 1 run while striking out 17 batters and getting three wins. One of those games being against the Minnesota Twins. Today he gets a Toronto team that is striking out at a 25% clip against RHP and is bottom 5 in the league in wOBA and WRC+ against RHP. He does have an IRT of 5.2 which will scare a lot off but for his price tag I have no problem looking at him as a cash SP2 today.
Ryan Zimmerman, WAS (1B, $3900)
The Nationals are going to be popular and for good reason today. Hot and humid weather with the wind blowing out and an IRT well North of 6. They will take on Gregory Soto and the Detroit Tigers. In 5 starts this year Soto has a 5.89 SIERA with a 8.5% SwStr rate and against RHB he has given up a .400 wOBA, 2.5 HR/9 and a 47% HH Rate all to go with a 6.04 xFIP. Zimmerman is just coming off the IL but $3900 is a great price for the matchup today. In a small sample this year Zimmerman has a .326 wOBA against LHP but over his career he sits at a .389 wOBA with a .214 ISO and a 141 WRC+ against LHP.
Francisco Lindor, CLE (SS, $5300)
I thought I was dreaming when I woke up and seen that BAL got a shutout last night while scoring 14 runs. I don’t see that happening again and today the Indians get to go against RHP Andrew Cashner. Cashner has been better this year but still dating back to last season he a 4.93 xFIP and a .322 wOBA against LHB and a SIERA North of 5 this season. Just like in Detroit it is going to be hot and humid with the winds blowing out. Lindor for me is the clear cut top SS option today but paying up for him might be difficult if you want to go the Washington route and you won’t get an argument from me either way you go. Lindor vs RHP this year has .377 wOBA with a .241 ISO and a HH rate of 50% over his L14 which is top on the slate for short stops. CLE has a 5.8 IRT which second highest on the slate only behind Washington.
Others: J. Kipnis, J. Donaldson, R. Cano, E. Suarez, J. Baez, A. Rendon, D. Swanson
Eloy Jimenez, CHW (OF, $3800)
One knock here and that is Eloy is hitting sixth today against Michael Pineda and the Minnesota Twins. That might not stop me from firing him up in cash though as the kid has just flat out been raking. Over his L30 he has a .403 wOBA, .299 ISO, 157 WRC+, and a 44% HH Rate and we all know Pineda is willing to give up some moon shots. Dating back to last season against RHB, Pineda has a 4.69 xFIP with a .347 wOBA and 47% HH Rate. The White Sox have an IRT of 4.75 today and FTA’s A.C.E. Projection System is also giving Eloy a 6% HH Boost today. This is my #DFSHomeRunCall.
Juan Soto, WAS (OF, $5000)
When deciding between the bat to spend up for today this is where I’m leaning over Lindor. I talked about the weather and opposing pitcher Gregory Soto in Zimmerman’s blurb. Juan Soto should win the battle of the Soto’s easily today as he has actually been better against LHP this season then he has RHP. Against LHP this year Soto has a wOBA of .401, elite .266 ISO and a 147 WRC+. With the IRT pushing 6.5 runs, I am all over Washington today and will find a way to get cheaper exposure to the Indians in Baltimore today.
Others: N. Castellanos, J. Bauers, A. Gordon, B. Anderson, M. Conforto, R. Acuna JR., C. Stewart
