Thank you to FTA for bringing me back into their family and allowing me to provide content and help others become better DFS players. I’m really excited about this and am ready to start the grind again. What a better way to bring back Round the Bases than with a 10 game slate on Sunday that gives us plenty of options to go with in cash. Let’s jump right in, shall we? It is very important to check into our FTA Discord Chat each night as some of my plays here might change as lineups start coming out. Check out our A.C.E. Projection System as well to help with building your winning lineups. You can also follow and DM me on twitter @DRockDFS.
RHP Jacob DeGrom, NYM ($10,500)
The Chicago Cubs come into today’s game against DeGrom and the Mets in a bit of a funk, while Degrom is headed the other direction. Over the Cubs last 13 games they have a 22% K Rate against RHP with a .180 ISO and an ugly 85 WRC+. They got beat up on yesterday by Wheeler scoring 1 run over his 7 IP and striking out 5 times. It won’t get easier today as DeGrom comes in with a 28.7 K Rate, 3.18 xFIP, 3.19 SIERA and a 12.7 SwStr Rate over the last 30 days and 35 K’s in his last 4 starts combined. Yes the Cubs can be dangerous but $1,500 cheaper than Verlander is quite the value with Verlander facing the Yankees in New York. Even as a Cubs fan DeGrom will be a focal point for me today in cash.
RHP Justin Verlander ($12,000) and the Houston Astros are in New York to face the Yankees who have recently gotten back the sluggers in Stanton and Judge. I think with the ability of this Yankees lineup to go nuts on any given night will scare some of the public off of Verlander. This season Verlander has a 27% K Rate against RHB and a 16% SwStr Rate, highest on the slate, and a 3.15 SIERA. The K’s are going to be there as Stanton has a career 29% K Rate and Judge a career 31% K Rate against RHP. Verlander can be damaged by the long ball as he does have a 46% FB Rate and a 42% HH Rate against RHB this year. I will pass in cash but have no problem going up in gpp. If you want to play him in cash I won’t argue though as it is still Justin Verlander.
RHP Zach Plesac, ($7700) gets a date with the Detroit Tigers who rank last in K Rate (26.4%) and second to last in wOBA (.283) and ISO (.149) against RHP this season. Plesac and the Indians have an IRTA of 3.54. The Tigers are a RHB heavy lineup and in 5 starts this year, not the biggest sample size, Plesac has a 3.86 xFIP and a 25% K Rate. The Indians are a massive -225 favorite today and for the price I have no problem going here for SP2 to get some bigger bats in your cash lineups today.
Asdrubal Cabrera, TEX (3B, $3900)
Let the Arlington talk begin. The Rangers are at home in hot and humid conditions with the wind blowing straight out today. On top of that they will face RHP Ivan Nova and the Chicago White Sox. Nova against LHB this season has a 5.0 xFIP, 1.85 HR/9 and only a 12% K Rate. He is a ground ball pitcher but with the weather factors I don’t see that playing much of a roll. Cabrera under $4K and batting in the top 6 will most likely be very chalky today along with some other Ranger bats. This is chalk in cash that I will not be fading. Cabrera over his L30 has a .318 wOBA with a 39.7% HH Rate and against RHP this year has a 43% FB rate which only bumps him up even more today. The Rangers have an insane IRT of 6.16 (highest on the slate), so don’t be afraid to stack some up in cash.
Dansby Swanson, ATL (SS, $4000)
The Braves have an IRT of 5.5 today against spot starter Austin Voth and the Washington Nationals. Voth made 2 starts last year giving up 3 home runs and Zips is projecting him at an xFIP of 5. Swanson should be hitting second today and over his L30 he has a .359 wOBA, .227 ISO and a great 43% HH Rate. There is more than 1 way to go at SS today but if you need the savings, fire up Swanson.

Nomar Mazara, TEX (OF, $4400)
Here is another chalky play that you won’t want to fade with your cash builds today. Mazara at $4.4K is still way to cheap and if he was $5K I would still play him today. I already mentioned Nova’s numbers in Cabrera’s blurb but what I didn’t mention is that Nova also has a 5.04 SIERA. He also has a contact rate of 83% with only an 8% SwStr Rate. Mazara at home vs RHP this season has a .337 wOBA, .221 ISO, and an insane 51% HH Rate to go with that IRT north of 6 runs.
Bryce Harper, PHI (OF, $4000)
Harper and the Phils will see the red hot Jordan Yamamoto today in Philly. Yamamoto has been impressive but regression is coming and the Phils might be the team to send him his welcome message. Yamamoto has an ERA of 0 after 2 starts with a 25% K Rate. Here is the kicker, even though he has been hot, luck has been on his side as he enters today with a SIERA of 4.37 and a 4.53 xFIP. Against LHB in his 2 starts he has a 45% FB Rate and an insane 63% HH Rate. That is music to my ears for Phils lefties. Harper is just to cheap as well as he has been all season and he hardly sees more than 40% ownership. On a day when Texas and White Sox bats will be a hot item, Harper will be a great leverage play. In 2019 he has .334 wOBA, .187 ISO and a 44% HH Rate against RHP. Harper is my #DFSHomeRunCall.
