DraftKings cash games were green again last night, thanks to JT Realmuto coming through with an extra inning home run to beat my Cubs. That just hurt to have to type. Tonight looks to be another fun slate’s with some sub six IRT’s and Texas having an IRT north of six. The STL/KC game has been PPD. It is very important to check into our FTA Discord Chat each night as some of my plays here might change as lineups start coming out. Check out our new A.C.E. Clayton Kershaw, LAD ($9800)
Tonight we have some stud pitchers to choose from and when I first looked at the list, right away I noticed Kershaw against Tampa Bay for $1500 cheaper than Verlander. TB has a 31% K Rate, second worse in baseball, and a .144 ISO against LHP in 2019. I have been attacking the Rays at will when they face a lefty and tonight that south paw just happens to be Clayton Kershaw at a very discounted price, some will disagree. Kershaw will possibly see 7 RHB tonight and in a small sample size has allowed just a .274 wOBA, 3.16 xFIP with a 26% K Rate against them this year. Lefties have been his problem but won’t see much of them tonight. Kershaw has a 3.56 SIERA coming into tonight and I have no problem with him as your SP1 tonight in cash. I also won’t argue with you though if you want to pay up for Verlander.
RHP Spencer Turnbull (DET, $7800) is also another great value arm tonight against the Miami Marlins. In 2019 Miami has a .091 ISO, 64 WRC+ and the second worse K Rate at 26.6% against RHP. Some might be scared off after they limited the Mets aces but I’m not buying in. Turnbull will most likely see eight RHB tonight and he has a 30% K Rate with a 3.59 xFIP and a .247 wOBA against RHB this season. Another option for value at SP2 tonight is Cubs LHP Jose Quintana (CHC, $7900). This is more of a price and weather play as winds are projected to be around 15-20 mph straight in tonight. PHI is no cake walk but they only have a .276 wOBA against LHP on the road this year and Quintana supports an average 20.5% K Rate with a 3.9 xFIP against RHB this year. Philly will look to send out eight RHB tonight with Harper being the lone lefty.
Max Muncy, LAD (1B/2B, $4200)
Max Muncy comes into tonight’s game against the Rays with a .386 wOBA, 148 WRC+, elite .320 ISO and an incredible 54% HH Rate against LHP in 2019. The Rays will have an opener tonight but LHP Jalen Beeks is suppose to follow. They also have Ryan Stanek listed as a possible a well though. Either way I like Muncy at this price tag hitting second for the Dodgers. If for some reason it is Stanek, Muncy has a .344 wOBA with a 42% HH Rate against RHP this year. Beeks this season has a 4.8 xFIP against LHB.
Asdrubal Cabrera, TEX (3B, $3800)
I missed out on the double dong game for Cabrera last night and did not expect him to be chalky hitting in the seven hole. Tonight he is hitting sixth and the Rangers have an IRT of 6.2 runs, highest on the slate. They will face LHP Tommy Milone who is making his first start of 2019 tonight. In AAA this year he had a 5.65 xFIP with only a 20% K Rate. In a very small sample size, last year he posted a .432 wOBA, 4.4 xFIP and 2.8 HR/9 against RHB for the Washington Nationals. Cabrera vs LHP this year has been nothing special but he does have a 48% HH Rate. Hitting sixth is better than seventh, but he will be uber chalk tonight, even more than last night especially after going yard twice and still being under $4K.
Others: R. Cano, B. Belt, L. Forsythe, E. Encarnacion, JP Crawford, G. Torres, DJ. LeMahieu
Christian Yelich, MIL (OF, $5800)
Its a home game for the Brewers tonight and that means we have a good shot at Yelich going yard. He is pricey which may keep him out of the cash conversation tonight, I don’t have a problem paying for him especially if not paying for Verlander. Yelich will face RHP Sonny Gray tonight and Gray has been solid against LHB this season posting a 2.5 xFIP with a .214 wOBA. Are you ready for these numbers now? Yelich at home this season against RHP in 18 games has 11 home runs, a .773 ISO, .655 wOBA, and a 323 WRC+. Makes perfect sense why he is almost priced up to $6K. It will be a hard decision but if you aren’t getting him in cash make sure to get some in gpp. He will also be under 10% most likely in cash tonight.
Aaron Hicks, NYY (OF, $4700)
Hicks was here yesterday and I have no problem going right back to him tonight even though he is priced up a little higher. He will see RHP David Hess and the Orioles tonight and in 2019 Hess has a 4.35 xFIP and is allowing 1.7 HR/9 to LHB. I really wish Hicks would just hit from the right side though as Hess is giving up 4 HR/9 to RHB this year with a 6.56 xFIP. Maybe the Yankee brass will read this before the game and send the message down, you never know. Hicks this season has a .200 ISO against RHP but like I said yesterday he brings us the power upside along stolen base potential for a solid floor/ceiling combo. I’m not sure I will call him a core tonight but he will get a lot of consideration once again due the Yankees having a sub 6 IRT on the night.
