Last night was a lot of fun as I cashed easily in all my contests. If you followed my core in chat leading up to lock, you also should have had a real solid night. Darvish came through big for us last night and I had him paired with Bauer who pitched a solid game himself. I had the ownership backwards yesterday but it worked in my favor. I had Mike Trout highlighted in yesterday’s article but said for cash, pivot to Yelich. Trout ended up being the higher owned, around 50%, and we got three home runs at 29% from Yelich in cash last night and even lower in gpp. It is very important to check into chat each night as some of my plays here might change as lineups start coming out. Make sure to join us in chat as we fully break down the slate and the other MLB analysts, including myself list our core plays for both cash games and tournaments. Check out our new A.C.E. Projection System as well to help with building your winning lineups. You can also follow and DM me on twitter @DRockDFS. Want to join us but not sure if you want to pay a monthly sub fee yet? Send us a dm and we can get you a free trial to give us a test run.
- Yu Darvish, CHC ($7800) = 23.35
- Carlos Santana, CLE (1B, $4000) = 14.00
- Zack Cozart, LAA (3B/SS, $3300) = 4.00
- Mike Trout, LAA (OF, $5600) = 10.00
- Whit Merrifield, KC (2B/OF, $4600) = 4.00
- Christian Yelich, MIL (OF, $5400) = 52.00
Thanks to the Yankees starting early for the kids tonight, we don’t have to worry about Boston on the main slate. It is still a massive 13-game slate tonight with no real weather risks. Once again make sure to join me in chat later or dm me on Twitter to make sure none of my plays have changed, since my articles are done before lineups are released.
Stephen Strasburg, WAS ($10,300)
The Washington Nationals and Stephen Strasburg face the San Francisco Giants tonight with the second lowest IRTA on the slate of 3.3 runs. The Giants have a 25% K Rate to start 2019 and a league worse .249 wOBA to go along with the second to worst WRC+ of 52. Strasburg through three starts in 2019 has a 27% K Rate and a 52% GB Rate. While many will pay the extra $300 to get to Tyler Glasnow, I’ll take that small discount against the Giants.
Brandon Drury, TOR (3B, $2900)
There is nothing exciting about this pick, I’ll admit that. The thing I like about Drury is that he might be hitting lead-off tonight against the Minnesota Twins and he is below $3K. If he does lead-off just get him in your line for salary relief as I’m sure he will see some heavy ownership in cash and he has shown that he can hit for extra bases when he isn’t striking out.
Jose Altuve, HOU (2B, $4800)
Unlike Drury, there is all kinds of excitement behind Altuve tonight against the Oakland A’s and RHP Marco Estrada. In 2019, Estrada has allowed a .392 wOBA, 2.2 HR/9 and has a 6.27 xFIP with a crazy high 65% FB Rate. Altuve has found his swing of late and over his last 30 AB’s is slashing a .433 wOBA, .359 ISO, 184 WRC+, and a 45% HH Rate. The A.C.E. Projection System is also giving Altuve a 12% HH Boost tonight. Jose is my #DFSHomeRunCall of the night.

Mike Trout, LAA (OF, $5700)
My golden rule in DFS is forget about what happened last night, that is for season long leagues not dfs. I can see many not following that rule tonight and locking up Yelich after his three home run game last night. I’m fine with that though because I will get Trout at a lower ownership in a great spot. The Angels are in Texas and get to face LHP Mike Minor. Dating back to last season Minor has a 4.85 xFIP, 38% HH Rate and a 4.6 SIERA. Mr. Trout comes into tonight with an elite .563 wOBA, elite .500 ISO, elite 272 WRC+, 45% HH Rate and on top of that getting a 12% HH Boost. I will be locking in Trout tonight and going from there. Don’t over think it and remember yesterday is in the past, today we start over.
Hunter Dozier, KC (OF, $3600)
If I told you there was a Royal that had a 179 WRC+, .434 wOBA, .314 ISO, and 41% HH Rate against RHP in 2019 you would probably guess that is Whit Merrifield. It is Hunter Dozier though and tonight he gets RHP Reynaldo Lopez and the White Sox. Lopez has a 4.99 xFIP and 5.05 SIERA dating back to last year. There is a chance Dozier hits sixth tonight but that won’t change my mind on playing him in cash. $3.6K is a joke right now and I will for sure have him in my core right alongside Trout.
