Round the Bases (DraftKings MLB Picks) | 05/07/19

Jaharel Cotton

Last night was fun if you didn’t play Boston as their 1-5 hitters combined for 0, yes 0, fantasy points. I luckily had only JD in my cash line last night but got enough from my values and starting pitchers to cash again. Even with Boston trying to break the slate there was still plenty of green made by FTA last night. It is very important to check into chat each night as some of my plays here might change as lineups start coming out. Make sure to join us in chat as we fully break down the slate and the other MLB analysts, including myself list our core plays for both cash games and tournaments. Check out our new A.C.E. Projection System as well to help with building your winning lineups. You can also follow and DM me on twitter @DRockDFS. Want to join us but are not sure if you want to pay a monthly sub fee yet? 05/05/19 Recap

A 13 game slate sits in front of us tonight with Boston most likely getting most of the attention. We also have Coors on the slate but looks like a real good chance of a PPD, which would help the cash game out even more. We will have some windy and cold conditions in Chicago and some great hitting weather in Houston. Like always it will be important to be in chat tonight. If you have a mic jump into voice with us as it is the easiest way to answer your questions quickly. Lets jump into tonight action.

Noah Syndergaard, NYM ($10,100)

Yesterdays Round the Bases featured DeGrom against the Padres for their league worst 27% K Rate against RHP and today is just the same. Noah comes into tonight with a 3.49 SIERA and against RHB has a 3.14 xFIP, .310 wOBA and a 28% K Rate. The Padres are bottom 10 in the league in wOBA and WRC+ against RHP and Hosmer will be their only lefty in the lineup. Noah also as of right now has the lowest IRTA on the slate of 3.4 runs. I could see going up to Strasburg tonight as he has owned the Brewers and I won’t argue if you do, heck I might still, but I really like this spot for Noah and he saves you $500 from Strasburg.

Robinson Cano, NYM (2B, $3700)

The Mets bats will face off against RHP prospect Cal Quantrill tonight in San Diego. In his only major league start against ATL he gave up two runs in five innings with only three strike outs. Steamer has him projected for a 4.6 xFIP and we have him projected for a 4.4 xFIP with a .437 wOBA tonight. Robinson Cano has a career .376 wOBA and a .209 ISO vs RHP. Over Cano’s last 30 AB’s against RHP he supports a .301 wOBA but what is impressive to me is his 44% HH Rate. Cano makes for a great value on tonight massive slate.

Justin Smoak, TOR (1B, $3900)

Jose Berrios on the road in Toronto, what could go wrong? Well, in 2018 Berrios supported a 6.75 xFIP while allowing 2.4 HR/9 to LHB. So far in three starts on the road this season he has given up a .364 wOBA, 5.5 xFIP, 2 HR/9 and a 39% HH Rate against LHB. So I guess there is a lot that could go wrong. Justin Smoak is getting an insane 14.6% HH Boost tonight and over his last 30 AB’s against RHP he has a .374 wOBA, 200 ISO, 137 WRC+ and an elite 58% HH Rate. I love this spot for Smoak tonight and he also comes in under $4K tonight.

Mookie Betts, BOS (OF, $5400)

So yesterday JD was featured here and just like Mookie and the rest of Boston he put up a doughnut. I’m going right back though as most of the industry will against RHP David Hess. It is going to be humid with the wind blowing out which only sets Boston up even more for a big night. Dating back to last year Hess has a 5.64 xFIP, .346 wOBA and a 32% HH Rate allowed to RHB. In 2019 alone he is giving up 2.45 HR/9 with a 6.4 xFIP against RHB. Mookie over his last 30 AB’s against RHP has a .386 wOBA, 140 WRC+ and a 40% HH Rate. Let me remind you that in 2018 against RHP he posted a .436 wOBA, 271 ISO and a 176 WRC+. If you want to save and go JD I have no problem with that or if you want to play both that is fine as well. If your telling yourself they will be low owned because of last night so your going to fade, your in for a rough night. Boston will once again be the chalk especially with Coors looking like a PPD. Get you some Boston exposure.

George Springer, HOU (OF, $5100)

George Springer is getting an 8.7% HH Boost tonight against LHP Danny Duffy and the Kansas City Royals. Springer went deep twice last night and tonight the weather conditions set up even better. Over his last 30 AB’s he has posted a .392 wOBA, .311 ISO, and a 152 WRC+ with an insane 53% HH Rate all against LHP. Dating back to 2018 Danny Duffy has a 5.18 xFIP with a 37.5% HH Rate to RHB with a 4.77 SIERA. FTA has Duffy projected for a 5.01 xFIP tonight against this dangerous Astros lineup. Just like Boston you will want some exposure to HOU tonight as well.
