Round the Bases (DraftKings MLB Picks) | 04/11/19

Happy Masters day, what a roller coaster last night was in MLB though. Paying down for pitching last night worked out well for me with Woodruff and Montas. Matt Chapman and Khris Davis combined for 69 FPts, Merrifield continued his hit streak for 12 FPts and Nimmo came through at a low price tag for 11 FPts with a hit, HBP, 2 R, and an RBI. At one point I was comfortably in the green and then Woodruff gave up 4 runs and knocked me out even though I was already sitting at 140 FPTS. Molina went deep and got me right back in the green. It was wild, crazy and a lot fun last night. Tonight we have a 5 game slate that at first glance I am not to sold on for cash. The PIT/CHC game has rain potential as we are suppose to get strong storms around the Chicago are tonight and the COL/SF game is looking to have a 20 mph gust straight out to RF. Make sure to be active in chat today as we will keep you updated on weather and everything else involved with tonight’s slate along with the 5 game early slate.

Pitcher

Jon Gray, COL ($9300)

The Rockies face the Giants tonight in San Fran with the lowest IRTA at 3.5 runs on the slate. RHP Jon Gray had a 23% K Rate on the road last season and both home/away totaled a 47% GB Rate. In 2 starts this season he has a 61% GB Rate. Gray has a tendency to give up the long ball which is pushing me towards more of a gpp play tonight with 20 mph winds projected out to RF. In 2019 the Giants have the worst wOBA in the majors at .257 and a 25% K Rate to start the season.

Others: N. Eovaldi

Infielders

Brandon Belt, SF (1B/OF, $3800)

I like Gray tonight but I also know he likes to give up the long ball, especially to lefties. In 2018 he averaged 1.77 HR/9 to left handed batting, with the wind mixed in it sounds like a night for Brandon Belt to go deep. Belt has average numbers start the season but his 46.7% HH Rate over his last 30 AB’s really sticks out to me. In 2018 Gray had a 41% HH Rate against lefties. If playing cash tonight, I don’t mind using Gray and Belt together. If Belt goes yard, you still gain points on the field and he is priced down to $3.8K which makes it even more appealing.

Manny Machado, SDP (3B, $4400)

The Padres have gave me fits to start the season as I just can’t seem to get them right. Machado is the run away leader at 3B tonight for FTA’s True Value rankings at 1.20 and over his last 30 AB’s he has a .363 wOBA with a 123 WRC+. He will go up against RHP Zack Godley and the Arizona Diamondbacks in Arizona tonight. Godley dating back to last year has a 4.02 xFIP against RHB. Machado is my #DFSHomeRunCall tonight.

Outfielders

Ronald Acuna Jr., ATL (OF, $5000)

Acuna is working on being one of my favorite young guys to watch. His raw talent is amazing and tonight he gets LHP Steven Matz and the New York Mets. Matz dating back to last season has a 4.1 xFIP and a 38% HH Rate against RHB. Over Acuna’s last 30 he is slashing a .378 wOBA, 128 WRC+, 45% HH Rate and gets a 4.5% HH Boost tonight according to our state-of-the-art A.C.E. Projection System. The Braves have an IRT of 4.5 runs tonight which as of right now is the second highest on the slate.

J.D. Martinez, BOS (OF, $5200)

The Red Sox have the highest IRT tonight of 5.5 runs, which is a full run higher than ATL who has a 4.5 for second highest. J.D. has a .217 ISO, 149 WRC+ and a 47.5% HH Rate over his last 30 against RHP. Aaron Sanchez will take the mound for the Toronto Blue Jays tonight. The A.C.E. Projection system gives J.D. a 5.4% HH Boost against Sanchez tonight.
