Round the Bases (DraftKings MLB Picks | 04/08/19

First off I would like to say Congratulations to FTA subscriber SK who won $100K this weekend in a PGA GPP. That is FTA’s second $100K winner in the last 6 months. The weekend was nice to me, Saturday early slate wasn’t to good but won it all back plus more on the main. Lorenzo Cain was huge Saturday night along with FTA’s top value catcher Jorge Alfaro who had 2 home runs at 15% ownership in cash games. Yesterday I got a little risky and faded the Yankees so I could pay up for pitching. Zach Eflin and Mike Clevinger combined for 58.20 FPts and Robbie Grossman at only $3300 had 28 FPts to help me easily cash. We look to keep the hot streak going tonight so make sure you join us in chat as we fully break down the slate and the other MLB analyst as well as myself list our core plays for both cash games and tournaments. Check out our new A.C.E. Projection System as well to help with building your winning lineups. You can also follow and DM me on twitter @DRockDFS.

04/06/19 Recap Early Slate

  • Jake Arrieta, PHI ($9100) = 6.95 FPts.
  • Omar Narvaez, SEA (C, $3500) = DNP
  • Jorge Soler, KC (OF, $3800) = 14 FPts.

04/06/19 Recap Main Slate

  • Kyle Wright, ATL ($7300) =13.90 FPts.
  • Max Muncy, LAD (1B/3B, $5100) = 9 FPts.
  • Lorenzo Cain, MIL (OF, $4100) = 21 FPts.

We have 8 games on tonight’s main slate with Coors being one of them. There is no big weather concerns tonight except maybe a little rain at the start of the OAK/BAL game which has an O/U of 9.5 tonight. Pricing is tight again on DK so you will defentely want to join us in chat leading up to lock tonight to get your lines ready.

Eric Lauer, SD ($7500)

Lauer and the San Diego Padres are underdogs in tonight road matchup against the San Francisco Giants, but Lauer already has 1 win against the club this season. In his first start against the Giants he threw 6 innings of scoreless ball giving up 4 hits with 3 K’s. The Giants as a team this year have a .208 BA with a .258 wOBA. San Fran being a pitcher’s park will only help Lauer. The only ? I got on him tonight is pitch count, as I’m not sure SD lets him get near 100. For his price though, on a night where I want Verlander, I’m ok taking the pitch count risk to be able to afford Verlander.

Whit Merrifield, KC (2B/OF, $4500)

The Royals have a 4.5 IRT tonight in what should be a game filled with scoring opportunities against the Seattle Mariners. The M’s will send RHP Felix Hernandez to the mound who has a 4.66 xFIP and 36.5% HH Rate against same handed hitting. The A.C.E. Projection System is giving Whit a 13.7% HH Boost tonight and in his last 30 AB’s he has a .379 wOBA with a 152 WRC+. You have to pick and choose where you want to pay up tonight if you want some Coors bats, but I would try getting Whit into your cash lines tonight.

Anthony Rendon, WAS (3B, $4200)

There is a new sheriff in Washington with Harper in Philly now, and that guy is Anthony Rendon. He is absolutely smashing to start 2019 and gets a matchup against RHP Vince Velasquez. According to the A.C.E. Projection system Rendon is under priced tonight, in is first 30 AB’s vs RHP he has an elite .602 wOBA, .533 ISO, 260 WRC+, 50% HH Rate and on top of all that gets a 9.5% HH Boost tonight. Wow, that is amazing! I will have Rendon in almost everyone of my lines tonight.

Others: Ryan O’Hearn, Josh Donaldson, Matt Chapman, Corey Seager

Domingo Santana, SEA (OF, $4300)

Seattle is looking like a team that wants to score 8+ runs everyday and they are a really fun offense to watch. They get Homer Bailey and the Kansas City Royals tonight with a 9.5 total and an IRT of 5 runs. Bailey has a 4.48 xFIP against same handed pitching dating back to last season and in Santana’s last 30 AB’s against RHP he has a .438 wOBA, elite 201 WRC+, and a 45.2% HH Rate. Most likely I will be trying to get at the least 2-3 players from this game tonight.

Trey Mancini, BAL (1B/OF, $4200)

This might end up being more of a gpp play then a cash play tonight, maybe, but I wanted to give Mancini some well deserved attention. Over his last 30 AB’s, Mancini has slashed a .443 wOBA, .389 ISO, 199 WRC+, and a 41% HH Rate. Mancini gets the fly ball expert RHP Marco Estrada tonight who has a 66% Fly Ball Rate and a 44% HH Rate against RHB in 2019. Mancini is my #DFSHRCall of the night and if you want to play him in cash I have no problem with it as I might be joining you.

Others: Robbie Grossman, Alex Gordon, Jay Bruce, Khris Davis, Charlie Blackmon
