Rick Baso Report: Christmas Day Edition

First I wanted to say Happy Holidays to you and your families. Thanks for your support during the year. I apologize in advance for spelling errors. I’m hung over and I wanted to get this out for you guys quickly.

I always like to get started with injuries:

JaVale McGee has been ruled out and Tyson Chandler remains questionable with a back injury. Zubac has stepped up tremendously. He has averaged 32.5 minutes and 35.9 DK points in two games with both big men out. In order for him to hit value today, he only needs 22 DK points.  A lot of that has to do with shooting 16-22 from the field but he has always hovered around a point per minute producer over the last two years. One concern I might add is that Golden State likes to play small which way limit his minutes.

Wilson Chandler is Questionable for today’s contest which means Mike Muscala would start again for the 76ers. He burned us on Saturday getting into early foul trouble but if you want to squeeze in some studs, this may be a viable option.  While he will clear up cap relief, he will not be in my player pool today considering Boston ranks 2nd in efficiency allowed to PF.

Chris Paul and James Ennis are out:

We are all aware of the usage bump without CP3 on the floor for Harden(44.3%) but without CP3 on the floor, other players have benefited.

Eric Gordon- 24.9 % usage 0.73 points per minute. ( I only have about 10% Gordon today. Not high on him)

Capela 18.9 % usage 1.18 DK points per minute.

Duant is probable against the Lakers today.

This is going to be a matchup between Titans as he will probably be defended at times by Bron today. Durant saw his points per 100 possessions drop by 10.3 compared to his season average when guarded by Lebron James.

In regards to today’s slate, lets go over my favorite plays:

PG: Ricky Rubio: the minutes upside is there for Rubio playing more than 30 minutes in three out of the last four games. The price tag is difficult to ignore on DK which makes up for the difficult matchup against Portland who ranks 6th in defensive efficiency against point guards.

Fade: Emmanuel Mudiay

While Mudiay will be popular today, Alonzo Trier is back which complicates the Knicks guard rotation even more. I think Trier hurts Mudiay enough where he is worth the fade.

SG: James Harden: He is 10,900 on dk -_- I hate Draftkings. Lock him up again. We all know the numbers(Listed above if you don’t)

Also Consider Middleton here. ( My fav play on the day)- 36.3 DK points over the last four

CJ McCollum and Tim Hardaway are also interesting if you’re MME.

No strong stand on fades here.

SF: Brandon Ingram has played close to 35 min the last two games and he’s incredibly cheap on DK today. There is some blow out risk but I think this game stays close

Fade: Paul George rates have been up the past five games as he has seen an increase in assist rate (+3.6 increase), usage rate (+2.7 increase), and rebound rate(+2.5 increase). While he isn’t a bad play, they’re other stars I would prefer to pay up for.

PF: Draymond Green– The game environment is just too good to pass up and he is still cheap relative to his production. He can put up a triple double any day and with both teams ranking top 10 in pace, it’s hard to see him fail here.

Honorable Mention: If you want to take some salary relief here, I would use Favors. The min. floor is shaky but he has an opportunity to hit value as Portland generally struggles against bigs.

Center: Zubac is the easy choice here. He has played 33 and 32 min the last two games. I think he is more of a must on FD where he is min. salary. and produces 1.07 FD points per min.
