PGA Championship – PGA DFS
Bellerive Country Club – Aug. 9 to 12
Welcome to Bellerive Country Club, home of the Fresh Prince. Now that the Justin Thomas show is over, with his 30/1 odds and $8,800 price tag on DK proved to be a complete misprice by the line-setters, as JT controlled the field and led his way to a very hefty win for himself and every smart DFS/bettor on planet Earth. To sum things up, the consensus report from all doubters was simply put as “whoops!” Now that we’ve overcome that exasperation, let us look into this weeks’ final major of the season, and a chance for the greats to get greater and everyone else to fill our lineups with streaks of birdies and hole in ones.
Dustin Johnson ($11,400 DK, $12,600 FD): Dustin has a tough first start at the Bridgestone, but turned his game into championship status over the weekend shooting rounds of 66 and 64. Look for DJ’s hot hands to continue this week at Bellerive as he looks to hoist his fifth Wannamaker Trophy. Taking DJ and his hefty price tag will limit the rest of your lineups exposure towards the mid-low tier, so choose wisely if you go that route.
Rory Mcllroy ($11,000 DK, $12,300 FD): Rory’s analysis mimics that of Dustin Johnson’s quite a bit, except he started out hot last week and had a ruthless weekend. Look for him to gain back the momentum that we know Rory has, as the Irishman should come into the PGA Championship cool, calm and ready to collect his third Wannamaker Trophy.
Brooks Koepka ($9,600 DK, $11,600 FD): Brooks enters the week will 11/12 cuts made. He quietly squeaked out a Top 5 spot this past week at the Bridgestone and I expect his hot hands to continue on the big stage this week. It’s likely that you could pair Brooks with one of the guys mentioned above, and still build an equitable lineup with some mid-low tiered gentlemen. Brooks has four straight top 15’s at the PGA Championship and I fully expect him to be in the hunt come Sunday.
Other options: Justin Thomas ($9,700 DK, $11,400 FD), Justin Rose ($9,400 DK, $11,900 FD), Tommy Fleetwood $9,300 DK, $11,400 FD), Patrick Reed $8,900 DK, $11,200 FD)
Top Tier Fade: Tiger Woods ($9,900 DK, $11,300 FD): Tiger came up very lame this past week at the Bridgestone. His iron play and putter have been decent of late, but all of that bottoms out when you can’t hit the fairway off the tee. Tiger has spent a lot of time in the tall grass and I’m not sure he’ll be so quick to turn that around this week at the PGA Championship.
Mid-Tier & Low-Tier:
We will need to fill our lineups with the best of the best from the mid-low tier, so here’s a list of guys who you can use to round out your lineups. Of course, there’s a huge field this week, a cut after Friday’s round and a slew of guys you never heard of before who are on a mission to get the ball in the hole, using the least amount of swings possible. Practice bankroll management, but take a shot at the Milly-Maker because, as they say in French, “quelqu’un doit gagner.”
Tony Finau ($8,100 DK, $10,600 FD), Paul Casey ($8,000 DK, $10,900 FD), Marc Leishman ($7,800 DK, $9,400 FD), Webb Simpson ($7,700 DK, $10,700 FD), Louis Oosthuizen ($7,700 DK, $9,800 FD), Byeong-Hun An ($7,500 DK, $9,000 FD), Ryan Moore ($7,400 DK, $9,000 FD), Luke List ($7,100 DK, $8,300 FD), Ryan Fox ($7,100 DK, $7,600 FD), Gary Woodland ($7,000 DK, $8,900 FD), Beau Hossler ($6,900 DK, $8,500 FD), Andrew Putnam ($6,900 DK, $7,600 FD), Stewart Cink ($6,700 DK, $8,300 FD), Jason Kokrak ($6,700 DK, $7,300 FD), Chris Stroud ($6,400 DK, $7,200)
