NFL Week 5 – FanDuel GPP Plays
Hey kids, it’s me. I bet you thought that I was dead. But when I fell over I just broke my leg and got a hemorrhage in my head. Sorry for missing Week 4, but glad to say that the FTA gang did not miss cashing big, including some major GPP takedowns. I’m back and so is Week 5, so lettuce lay down some GPP plays that are sure to make Veronica Vaughn do something crazy. Enjoy!
Keep in mind that FanDuel scoring offers half a point for PPR whereas DraftKings offers a full point. FD also does not offer a bonus for 100 yards RB/WR and 300 yards QB like DK does. When assessing these plays, we’re looking for touchdown dependent and/or heavy workload horses. Get it? Got it. Good.
Ben Roethlisberger – $8,400: Ben welcomes the Atlanta Falcons and their 28th ranked defense into town this week and there’s no doubting that he has the ability to toss 300+ yards for 2-3 TDs and (hopefully) no interceptions. Averaging 23 FD points per week over the first 4 weeks, along with leading all QBs in passing yards (1,414), Ben should be highly touted this week. With this high price tag (2nd behind PatMah), he could garner a lower ownership, as most will pay up for the stud positional players. Sneak into cash with Ben and don’t be shy to stack him up with AB or JuJu.
Patrick Mahomes – $8,600: Pat’s on another level right now – ride the wave
Jared Goff – $8,000: so much gpp action here with Kupp, Cooks, Woods & Gurley
Carson Wentz – $7,500: in a must win situation after starting the season in an ugly 2-2
Blake Bortles – $7,000: teenage mutant ninja Bortles
CJ Beathard – $6,300: CJ + Kittle = Money (and lots of salary left over for Pro Bowlers)
Melvin Gordon III – $8,700: Volume is his middle name. Melvin has 54 rushing attempts in the first 4 weeks, along with 24 catches on 34 targets. The man is seeing an incredible work load and while some would consider Gurley a better play on paper, and I may not argue, I want the production of Melvin while he tackles Oakland’s 30th ranked rush defense.
Todd Gurley – $9,100: also middle named Volume, so do as you please
James Conner – $7,800: coming off 2 mediocre or less games, he’s due to breakout against the weak Atlanta defense
Gio Bernard – $6,900: right now he’s tagged with a knee injury, but assuming he plays, he’s still in consideration as the value back with excellent usage and upside
Mike Davis – $5,500: if Carson sits again, looks for Davis to keep the momentum going from last week where we rushed 21 times for 101 yards and 2 TDs
Adam Thielen – $8,300: The Eagles secondary is beat up and look for Kirk to find Adam all over the field. A team stack with Kirk and Diggs may be something to chew on, and this is coming from an Eagles fan. #FlyEaglesFly #SuperBowl52 (ugh)
Stefan Diggs – $6,200: see above
JuJu Smith-Schuster – $8,000: pivot from AB cost and chalk; or take them both
Golden Tate – $7,200: coming into form and Stafford is not shy as a gunslinger
Calvin Ridley – $6,800: have you been paying attention
Cooper Kupp – $6,700: catches everything Goff throws his way
Corey Davis – $6,400: super sneaky, shh
Dede Westbrook – $5,900: super sneakier, shh
Jared Cook – $5,900: with 13 targets last week, the WR corps not doing so hot and Gruden on the “hot-seat”, look for Carr to continue to target Cook, especially in the red-zone (if they make it there)
Travis Kelce – $7,700: if you’re paying up, pay all the way up
George Kittle – $6,400: see note above with CJ
CJ Uzomah – $4,700 or Tyler Kroft – $4,500: Eifert’s leg fell off and both of these guys are capable of a solid production and a very cheap price tag. Flip a coin.
Tennessee Titans – $3,900: look who’s playing the Bills and plug the in.
