NFL Week 2 FanDuel GPP Plays

NFL Week 2 – FanDuel GPP Plays

Welcome to Week 2 of the NFL season. We dusted off the rust pretty quickly over here at FTA with some huge GPP hits in Week 1. Let’s keep the momentum going into Week 2 as we navigate through the player pool looking for stars and scrubs and chalk and pivots. We’ll list our favorite players for Week 2 GPPs on FanDuel, along with some additional options to keep an eye on. If building multiple lineups, you can get a bit crazy with team stacks, cores and a bit more creativity. If building 1 lineup for single entry GPPs or just to throw a dart into the Milly Maker, you’ll have to decide if you’re willing to eat chalk or fade the duck. Most importantly, be confident in your choices and at the end of the day, you can look in the mirror and say “I’m a badass mofo who won’t take no crap off of nobody.”

Keep in mind that FanDuel scoring offers half a point for PPR whereas DraftKings offers a full point. FD also does not offer a bonus for 100 yards RB/WR and 300 yards QB like DK does. When assessing these plays, we’re looking for touchdown dependent and/or heavy workload horses. Get it? Got it. Good.

Quarterbacks

My Favorite:

Patrick Mahomes – $7,500: Oh my, did the rookie look good in his debut against the chargers throwing 15-27 for 256 yards and FOUR touchdowns. You can say he had a little help from playmaker, Tyreek Hill – which is 100% true, as Tyreek accounted for 7 catches, 169 yards and 2 TDs. Andy Reid is not shy when it comes to letting his QB air it out (see Donovan McNabb), and we saw what Cleveland was able to do against the Steelers weakening defense last week. Look for “My Homie” Mahomes to surpass 300 yards this week as he continues to lead the passing attack. A nice pairing GPP to avoid some chalk would be Travis Kelce, who only had 1 catch on 6 targets last week.

Other Plays:

Drew Brees – $8,800 – stack him up with Michael Thomas

Phillip Rivers – $7,400 – stack him up with Keenan Allen

Nick Foles – $7,300 – roll him out clean and stack your WR corps with studs

Jimmy G $7,300 – pair him with the Kittle

Running Backs

My Favorite:

Melvin Gordon III – $8,200: A lot of love will continue to follow James Conner, even with his price increasing $2,000. The Steelers used Conners as a work horse and I fully expect that trend to continue, but that’s expensive chalk that you don’t have to eat to win a GPP. Melvin, on the other hand, ripped apart KC last week for 64 yards on 19 carries, along with 9 catches on 13 targets for 102 yards. That’s 23.1 FD points without finding the End Zone. This week Melvin attacks the mockery of the Buffalo Bills. I expect a similar approach in touches, but believe Melvin will find the End Zone, making his floor comfortably numb.

Other Plays:

Alvin Kamara – $9,000 – Expensive but rightfully so. 38.6 FD points last week. Not sure the TDs are sustainable, but the touches are, at least until Mark Ingram is back from suspension.

Christian McCaffrey – $7,400 – CMC was quiet last week with only 10 rushing attempts, but he did have 9 targets. Look for his snap count to fly off the charts this week as they take on the deflated Falcons.

James Conner – $7,000 – I can’t not list the guy. You know what you’re getting.

James White – $5,900 – If you’re looking to punt at RB, here’s your man. Jacksonville defense is a rock, but Bill Belichick is paper. Burkhead and Michel are both banged up and if they miss the game, White will be the sole workhorse for these Patriots. With Tom Brady at the helm, I’m letting James White run me into the green at $5,900.

Wide Receiver

My Favorite:

Tyreek Hill – $8,100: Did you see what he did last week? I shouldn’t say anything else, mostly because I already did in the QB section with Mahomes. So scroll up and read it again. TyFreak is an athlete and worth a roster spot, weather you’re pairing him up with the next great “PM” or not.

Other Plays:

Michael Thomas – $8,800: 16 catches on 17 targets for 180 yards and a touchdown. Need I say more? Maybe. That was verse the Bucs defense, so take it with a grain of salt – but this week they welcome the Browns into the Big Easy and I expect nothing less than Big Easy from the Saints offense.

JuJu Smith Schuster – $7,200: JuJu is a nice pivot off the expensive chalk that Antonio Brown carries. Expect Brown to see a lot of double coverage and with a solid run game in James Conner, I see JuJu getting himself in position for another solid week of action.

Robbie Anderson – $6,400: Looking to save some money and get some action, keep an eye on Robbie Anderson this week. Sam Darnold looked very comfortable in his first game as a pro, after he settled in from the pick-6 on his first throw. Robbie was shadowed all game and only saw 1 target, which he snagged in for a 41 yard TD. Look for Robbie’s target count to sky-rocket this week and he’ll be a super-sneaky GPP play. You’re welcome. 😉

Tight End

Travis Kelce – $6,800 – Big fan of the Chiefs this week if you haven’t noticed yet. Kelce had a slow start last week and that’s not a trend I expect to continue. The Steelers defense doesn’t have a shutdown defense like they used to – so fire up Kelce in your KC stacks, or roll him out solo.

Other Plays:

Rob Gronkowski – $8,100 – Gronk will always be a good play, if you’re willing to spend up at TE. I don’t think it’s necessary this week as he’s $1,300 more than the next price TE (Kelce). However, Gronk is Gronk and anyone who’s watched football before knows what this man is capable of, especially with Tom Brady at the helm.

George Kittle – $5,600 – George, George, George of the Jungle – watch out for that tree!

Jonnu Smith – $4,200 – The TE chalk this week will find it’s way to Jonnu, who takes over for the season ending injured Delanie Walker.

Defense

My Favorite:

Philadelphia Eagles – $4,400 – Fitzmagic was great last week against the weak Saints defense but the Eagles sport a defense that can play shut down. Look for them to keep Fitz on his toes with their ruthless rush attack.

Other Plays:

New England Patriots – $4,200 – #Belichick

San Francisco 49ers – $3,700 – Who saw the Lions last week?

Washington Redskins – $3,700 – Sneaky. Lucky? Maybe.
