Mason Plumlee is a Steal | Yahoo NBA DFS 1/10

Mason Plumlee

Hey guys! I apologize for my recent absence. For those who don’t know, a couple days before Christmas my appendix ruptured and I was in the hospital for a week. After I got out, I was drained of most of my energy but I’m back starting today. Hopefully we can pick up where we left off and keep profiting. I hope everyone else had a better holiday than I did. Mason Plumlee is today’s play of the day.

We already have a lot of injury news today, as Wade/Butler are both out and so is LaMarcus Aldridge. These injuries open up a good amount of value today which will help us fit in several high priced guys into our lineups.

Make sure to check out the FTA+ NBA DFS Cheatsheet where we keep projections that are updated with the latest injury news. Along with the cheatsheet, you also get access to the FTA+ premium chat where you can talk to our analysts about your lineups and ask any questions you may have!

Centers

Mason Plumlee ($22) – I am not quite sure why Yahoo leaves Mason’s price so low but with the way he’s been playing, he should easily be in the $30~ range. He is my lock of the night on Yahoo and should be very high owned at this price point. Last game against the Lakers, he played 31 minutes and scored 32.9 fpts. We can expect something similar to that tonight, with 40+ pt upside. Mason should hit value with ease tonight.

Other options: Andre Drummond, Dwight Howard, Rudy Gobert.

Point Guards

George Hill ($25) – When combing through the list of PGs, Hill was the first play that popped out to me. He is back to seeing 32+ minutes a game and gets a beautiful match up against Kyrie Irving and the Cavaliers. He will be guarding Kyrie most of the night and is in a great spot the produce. Kyrie has a DRPM of -1.92 and the Cavs are 24th against PGs this season. This game has a spread of -2 so it should stay close and I expect a good game out of Hill. With a lot of options at PG tonight, I’m hoping Hill goes overlooked more than he should be, because this price is too cheap.

Other options: Giannis Antetokounmpo, Damian Lillard, Kyle Lowry, Reggie Jackson, Michael Carter-Williams, Jordan Clarkson.

Shooting Guards

Marcus Smart ($18) – If Bradley is out again tonight, I like Smart as a “safe” play. With Bradley off the court this year, Smart has played 3 more minutes a game and scored 6 more fantasy points per game. Tonight, Smart should be tasked with guarding DeMar DeRozan and will see 30+ minutes again unless this turns into a blowout. While the match up isn’t ideal for Smart, the increase in opportunities sans Bradley makes up for it. SG is one of my least favorite positions tonight on Yahoo and I’m only really considering a few people.

Other options: C.J. McCollum, Bradley Beal, Malcolm Brogdon.

Small Forwards

Jeremy Lamb ($13) and Doug McDermott ($10) – These are my two favorite cheap value plays on this slate. Which is unfortunate as the Spurs are without LMA which makes me really like Kawhi also. Both of these plays are great because of injury situations. Batum is out for the Hornets and last game Lamb scored 28 fpts in 28 minutes against the Spurs. Today, he gets a softer match up as he should be getting some of that “Harden Defense.” Wade and Butler are both out, which opens up a boat load of usage for players like McDemmott, MCW, and Mirotic. Both of these players easily have 30+ fpts upside which is a steal for their prices. I will have both in my final Yahoo lineup.

Other options: Kawhi Leonard, Otto Porter, DeMarre Carroll, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist.

Power Forwards

Paul Millsap ($36) – Part of me wants to pay up for DeMarcus Cousins but it is hard to pass up Millsap at $36 against the Nets. The Nets are horrible at playing defense and play at a very fast pace. Currently, the spread is only -8 too which makes me think this won’t be too big of a blowout. If Millsap gets his normal allotment of minutes, he should crush value tonight. The Nets are 26th in rebounding differential, allow the 3rd most fpts to PFs, and play at the fastest pace in the league.

Other options: DeMarcus Cousins, Julius Randle, Nikola Mirotic, Al-Farouq Aminu, Spencer Hawes.
