Our hot streak continues here at FTA! Last night we absolutely slaughtered cash games and GPP alike as top picks went off across the board. I mostly ran GPP, but even fading a cash stud like Russell Westbrook couldn’t slow my lineup down en route to 335.25 points! The NBA slate is a little funky today as we have a 4 game early slate, and a 4 game late slate. I’m going to spoil my readers by producing TWO articles today. This article will cover Lucas Nogueira and the early slate on Draftkings daily NBA.

Lucas Nogueira headlines Draftkings Daily NBA early slate 1/8/17
Lucas Nogueira – Toronto Raptors ($3400)
Don’t look now, but Lucas Nogueira has started 2 straight games for the Toronto Raptors at power forward! As long as Patrick Patterson remains out, we can expect that trend to continue for a 3rd straight contest as the Raptors get set to face the Houston Rockets. In his first game as a starter, Lucas Nogueira played 26 minutes while posting 21.5 fantasy points. Last night Lucas Nogueira started his second straight game and played 42 minutes (in OT) while recording 9 points, 1 assist, 8 rebounds, 2 steals and a block for 26 fantasy points! This play is a little risky as Toronto plays later, and Patrick Patterson could return to crush all Lucas Nogueira’s value, but on a short 4 game slate I think it is worth the risk. I’ll be locking in Nogueira to my lineups at a far too cheap price tag.
Other Options: Jonas Valanciunas, Joel Embiid, Deandre Jordan
TJ McConnell – Philadelphia 76ers ($5900)
This is another play that depends on an injury, but as long as Sergio Rodriguez remains out you have to take TJ McConnell in cash on the early slate. At this point I’m not even sure why the 76ers would go back to Sergio, as TJ has been stellar in a starting role. Over his last 3 games McConnell has recorded at least 8 assists in each, including a standout 17 assists last game against Boston! He is averaging 36 minutes per night, and now gets set to face the worst defensive team in the NBA, the Brooklyn Nets. If McConnell remains in the starter’s role, he is your cash options once again at PG.
Other Options: Giannis Antetokounmpo, Kyle Lowry, James Harden
Robert Covington – Philadelphia 76ers ($5500)
Going to keep attacking the Nets in this article. With just a 4 game slate, you have to take the defensive matchups where you can, and Robert Covington is in a terrific spot. Over his last 2 games Covington has averaged 37.5 minutes per contest while shooting a rather poor 6-20 from the field (just .300). However, thanks to his ability to contribute steals, blocks, assists and rebounds Covington has remained right around value. We can expect a better shooting percentage today against the defensively inept Brooklyn Nets, making Covington an excellent value at a nice cheap price tag.
Other Options: Demar Derozan, Jamal Crawford, Eric Gordon, Bradley Beal
Otto Porter – Washington Wizards ($5800)
I’m going to admit this is the riskiest play I have on the slate. Otto Porter is a notoriously hard to predict fantasy contributor, but he has already matched up with the Bucks 3 times this season, and is averaging 33.6 FPPG in those meetings. While Porter hasn’t been as good on the road (27.6 FPPG on the road compared to 31.3 at home) I think the matchup is in his favor as the Bucks continuously get roasted by small forwards (MIL now allows the 2nd most FPPG to opposing small forwards!). I know its a risky play, but the matchup is solid, and Porter is a pretty decent player. On a short slate I’m willing to roll the dice.
Other Options: Jabari Parker, Trevor Ariza, Demarre Carroll
Ersan Ilyasova – Philadelphia 76ers ($6300)
Here we go attacking those Nets again! Over his last 3 games, Ersan Ilyasova has played at least 32 minutes in each contest. His floor over that time frame was 29.25, with a ceiling of 43.75. I really expect the PHI/BKN game to remain close throughout as two bad teams go head to head, and given the matchup (BKN allows the 3rd most FPPG to opposing PFs) I think Ersan is a terrific play to stack with his teammates McConnell and Covington. I plan to ride the 76ers stack to success today on the early slate, so join me!
Other Options: James Johnson, Ryan Anderson, Markieff Morris

Lucas Nogueira is a nice safe value at his price tag, but there could be some late news that comes out to adjust our lineups, so be sure to check in before locking in any suggested picks.
Keep an eye out for the late slate picks as that article should be published later today! Good luck on Draftkings this evening!
