New Starter JJ Nelson and Waiver Wire Week 10

JJ Nelson Is Fast and Should Be Owned Everywhere

In the event that a widely owned fantasy player is removed from a starting lineup, fantasy owners should take notice. JJ Nelson has outperformed the struggling and highly drafted Michael Floyd. In other words if you have Michael Floyd drop him and add JJ Nelson. The Arizona Cardinals have moved on and so should you. This is the time in the fantasy season to make tough choices that will benefit you down the line. Luckily Floyd has been so bad it shouldn’t be that hard to cut bait if you haven’t already. By in large most people have already let him go, but I’m guessing after this week that number will go up drastically. As always, all of the players mentioned in the waiver column are available in over 50% of yahoo leagues. For more information and interaction, visit the forums page and our twitter.

Must Add:

“How fast you may ask?”

JJ Nelson (14%) Arizona Cardinals

As can be seen from this photo (joking) JJ Nelson is one of the fastest players in the NFL. Uniquely gifted with a 4.28 40 yard dash this receiver is amongst the elite as far as downfield speed. The Arizona Cardinals haven’t thrown deep as much as last season but the addition of Nelson into the starting lineup could change that. After a slow start to the season, JJ Nelson has exploded in the last two weeks. Certainly the 167 total yards and 2 touchdowns in this timespan led Head Coach Bruce Arians to the decision to put him in as a starter. As a result look for him to be more involved in the coming weeks as the Cardinals try to push for a playoff spot.

Suggested Add:

Rishard Mathews (29%) Tennessee Titans

Despite the lack of dependable receivers outside of Tight End Delanie Walker, Marcus Mariota has been on fire. As a result Rishard Mathews has been one of his favorite targets in the red zone. Over the last 5 games, Mathews has managed 5 touchdowns after a 2 touchdown game in week 9. He is currently playing the most snaps of any wide receiver on the team and has earned the trust of his quarterback in the most crucial situations. The reason I don’t think that Mathews is a must add is the fact that Kendall Wright is back in the lineup and is probably the most talented receiver on the team. Regardless add him if you need him but he will be a risky start moving forward.

Deep Add:

Dontrelle Inman (4%) San Diego Chargers

Over the last few weeks Dontrelle Inman has become relatively reliable. In weeks 7-9 Inman has had at least 56 yards receiving and no less than 6 targets. Through those 3 weeks his target totals have increased every game as Philip Rivers looks to spread the ball around. In week 10 the Chargers face the Dolphins who have given up the 10th most fantasy points to wide receivers. In deeper leagues going through a bye week, Inman may not be a bad call.

I’ve been plugging Inman all season. Finally starting to see his usage increase a bit.
