NASCAR makes its way to Talladega Superspeedway for its 2nd of 4 restrictor-plate races. This beast of a track is 2.66 miles long, and the defending champ is Dale Earnhardt Jr., who’s has won 6 times at Talladega. Lets get into the picks.
Tier 1 Targets:
Dale Earnhardt Jr.: $10,300
It’s water cooler Dale, it’s Talladega lock him in.
Jimmie Johnson: $9,800
Jimmie has a streak of 7 straight top 25s at Talladega, and is one of the best drivers around. I understand that is not very good for a driver of his caliber, but it does show consistency. Jimmie is a viable pivot off of Dale Jr.
Also Consider: Carl Edwards, Denny Hamlin.
Tier 2 Targets:
Brad Keselowski: $9,000
Brad, at a cheap price point peaks my interest, because of the quality driver that he is. He does have 2 top 5s, including a win in his past 4 trips to Talladega.
Kurt Busch: $8,800
Kurt has rallied of 3 straight top 10s, and comes into Talladega with a full head of steam. He has a pair of top 10s in his last 4 trips here, with an average finish of 15.50. I will be banking on Kurt to continue a good stretch this week.
Also Consider: Martin Truex Jr. and Austin Dillon.
Tier 3 Targets:
Ryan Newman: $7,500
Ryan comes in with 5 straight top 20 finishes. He is 4 for 4 in finishing inside the top 20 in his last 4 tries here, with 2 top 10s. At his cheap price point, Ryan is solid for cash and GPPs.
Clint Bowyer: $7,400
Clint has an average finish of 11th in his last 4 starts at Talladega, which has led to 3 top 10s. Him and Newman could be in for a good day, at cheap price points.
Also Consider: Jamie McMurray and Ryan Blaney.
Landon Cassill: $5,800
Cole Whitt: $5,000
My pick to win this week will be Dale Earnhardt Jr. Not onlyhas he been racing well, but he has amazing track history. If you have any questions, feel free to Tweet me @FTA_BrettDadian. Enjoy the race.NASCAR, Random FTA articles
