Last Week’s Recap:
Last week we cashed hard. I ended up putting up 378 points on DraftKings with:
Kevin Harvick: 135.75 points
Dale Earnhardt Jr: 99.50 points
Kyle Busch: 72.75 points
Austin Dillon: 42 points
Ty Dillon: 42 points
Ryan Newman: -14 points
Unfortunately, Newman had an early wreck and was unable to finish the race. We ended up talking about Kevin Harvick and Carl Edwards, who finished 1st and 2nd respectively. If our lineups are anything like last week’s, we should have another great week on DraftKings for NASCAR.
NASCAR is headed to Fontana California for the Auto where Brad Keselowski will try to defend his title versus Jimmie Johnson and Matt Kensenth, who are both multiple winners of this event. The drivers are scheduled to go around this 2 mile, D shaped oval track 200 times. This track, qualifying isn’t the biggest deal in the world, but in any case, Austin Dillon will be starting pole position. Lets get into the picks.
DraftKings Tier 1 Targets ($9K+):
Jimmie Johnson – $10,400 – Starting 19th
Jimmie has won here 5 times, putting number 1 in wins at Fontana. I shouldn’t have to convoke you after that. Johnson is always a candidate to win anytime anywhere. Cash or GPP is viable.
Kyle Busch – $10,300 – Starting 6th
Another week where Kyle Busch might make my cash and GPP lineups this week. He has 2 wins, a runner up, and a 3rd in Fontana. Kyle has also ran 4 top 5s to start out this year. Kyle Busch serves as the number 1 pivot off of Johnson, but will still be owned by some.
Kurt Busch – $9,500 – Starting 26th
Kurt and his teammates have found success in Fontana recently. He was the highest DFS scorer a year ago. Kurt led 65 laps and recorded 50 fastest laps.
Also Consider: Kevin Harvick, Matt Kenseth, Brad Keselowski.
DraftKings Tier 2 Targets ($8,900-8,200):
Denny Hamlin – $8,900 – Starting 3rd
As Denny’s price has plummeted, i have grown interest. Hamlin starting 3rd should help him secure a good finish. He is an interesting proposition for cash and GPPs. Affordable, with a chance to win, we can get a good driver at a bargain of a price.
Martin Truex Jr. – Starting 17th
A solid start to the season for Martin, finishing: 2nd, 7th, 11th, 14th. With places to gain, a top 5 would allow someone with Truex Jr. on his team to have a good Sunday.
Chase Elliott – $8,600 – Starting 8th
I do like Chase as another potential GPP candidate. He is an extremely talented driver, and has snuck in two 8th place finishes this season. If he runs a full 200 laps, look for Chase Elliott to hit value.
Also Consider: Kyle Larson.
DraftKings Tier 3 Targets ($7,400-6,000):
Ryan Newman – $7,300 – Starting 4th
Yes, Ryan did kind of screw us last week , but it didn’t matter in the end. DraftKings has lower his price $200. So yes, I will most likely be running him in cash again. I hope he can stay near the top, and not fall any positions.
Aric Almirola – $6,800 – Starting 25th
A chance for Aric to gain some spots here. He has looked fairly fast in practices, while only qualifying 25th. Don’t be afraid to take a shot in a GPP with Aric.
Austin Dillon – $6,700 – Starting 1st
Starting pole for the second time in his career. The big boys will try to gun him down early, and take first. But with his cheap price point to get some laps led presents some value.
Also Consider: Ryan Blaney, Danica Patrick.
Punt Play of the week:
Brain Vickers – $5,400 – Starting 24th
Cheapest player in the field, with a good team and a veteran driver. Similar situation with Ty Dillon a week ago. If he can sneak a top 1o, I would be elated. NASCAR, Random FTA articles
