Draftkings DFS MLB | Thursday 4/13

Catcher

Salvador Perez – Kansas City Royals ($3600)

There are only 2 catchers projected to hit 5th or better today, and both of them will be in Kansas City (Vogt / Perez).  With a left hander on the mound for KC, I’ll be focusing on Perez, as there is a decent chance that Vogt sits this one out.  Perez sports a decent .313 wOBA and .197 ISO, and will be facing a pitcher in Jesse Hahn who only has a 14% K Rate against right handed batters meaning Salvador should have an excellent chance to put the ball in play, and hitting in the middle of the order gives him more RBI opportunities.  I’m really not in love with any plays in cash, so if you want to punt the position and take the cheapest catcher available on the slate, I really can’t blame you.

Other Options: Welington Castillo, Stephen Vogt, Tucker Barnhart, Russell Martin

First Base

Joey Votto – Cincinnati Reds ($4900)

Votto is in a bit of a slump to start the season but he did manage a hit, RBI and walk yesterday, and tonight returns home to one of the hitters ballparks in the major leagues (Cincinnati).  Votto sports a terrific .427 wOBA and .261 Isolated power rate against right handed pitching, and he draws Jimmy Nelson who gives up a .356 wOBA and 35.1 hard hit rate to left handed hitters.  Votto has a terrific chance for extra bases and should be the safest first basemen in cash games tonight for Draftkings DFS MLB 4/13.
