Yahoo auction values $200 10 team H2H – fantasy basketball 2012

Please keep in mind when looking at values these are NOT my personal amounts.  I completed 4 yahoo mock auctions, and have compiled the data, then used the average cost per player, so you can see how much each player goes for at an actual fantasy basketball draft.  These are not projected values, they are actual values from preseason mock drafts.  Projected values only get you so far in the fantasy world.

Be sure to hit that register button up top, then log in to our forums for some fantasy basketball discussion.  If you need help deciding who to target in your drafts, the forums are the place to ask.

These drafts were conducted with a bankroll of $200 and for the standard 13 position yahoo H2H fantasy basketball format.

The ranks on this chart are from our fantasy basketball draft kit (not yahoo’s) which you will notice differs quite a bit from their rankings, but which we will is a lot more accurate for this upcoming season in the NBA.  We chose not to rank players by their draft value, so you could see where we think the steals of the draft are.

Be sure to read the sleeper news and notes at the bottom of this article, where I will share my draft strategy, and favorite sleeper picks in auction drafts.

If a player was taken in at least one of the 4 mock drafts that I completed, they were given a value of $1 or higher.  Which would explain why players all the way down to #150 have dollar values assigned to them.  Different owners select different players with their $1 picks at the end of auction drafts.

Auction draft news and notes

- Here is my yahoo auction draft strategy in a nutshell.  I would take either Lebron or Durant, all the way up to $85, but obviously only one of them.  They are so far above the other players in the NBA in covering all 9 categories, I see them as must haves.  Once they go off the board, I would take about a 25-45 minute nap.  Let everyone else bid against each other, cleverly bid up the price on certain players so the other owners have to spend more, but I wouldn’t take another player until everyone else had gone down to about $60 left in their bankrolls.

-  From what I have seen in the yahoo auction drafts, this doesn’t take long at all.  Most owners look at the Yahoo suggested price, and figure if they spend up to that amount, they are getting a good deal.  The best part about that plan is that once the top 40-50 Yahoo players are gone, there are a whole slew of names that start popping up that the rest of the owners start saying man I wish I had saved my money.

- At this point, once they are all down to $60 or under, you are still sitting on about $115, and can have any player you want.  Don’t blow it all on one guy, but parcel it out around $10-$15 a player depending on how highly ranked they come.  You will have the core of your team in Lebron or Durant, and build off of that.  Trust me, you will still have an excellent roster even though the other guys blew a ton of money on the “superstars”.

Keep in mind this draft advice is yahoo specific because of their draft software.  Here is my list of guys that you should be able to get dirt cheap, that you will see we have highly ranked

#17 – Rajon Rondo – This is just crazy, Rondo goes for an average of $18 because they have him so low in their draft software, he doesn’t pop up until very late, and then owners realize what they missed out on.  You can get one of the top assist men in the league for less than 1/10th of your bankroll!

#23 – Blake Griffin – Griffin is going for just $23, needless to say as our #23 overall player (and ESPN’s #23 overall as well) Griffin is incredibly undervalued.  The players around him go from $30 on up to $45.  Just wait for Blake towards the end of drafts and make sure you have enough cash in your bankroll to get him.

#27 – Monta Ellis – Will someone explain to me how a guy who averaged 20 pts and 6 ast last season is going for just $10?  Pick him up!

#28 – David Lee – Ok, almost same boat as Monta Ellis.  I understand the oft injured Andrew Bogut will be playing for the Warriors this season, but last year Lee averaged 20 PPG, 9.6 RPG, and 2.8 APG.  Another steal at $11.

#33 – Steve Nash – We all know father time is catching up with Mr. Nash, but he should have no problem averaging double digit assists for the Lakers this season.  Surrounded by $30 players, Steve is a nice pickup at $17.

#35 – Tony Parker – How old does everyone think Tony Parker is?  He is just 30 people!  And last year averaged 18 PPG, 2.9 RPG, 7.7 APG, and nearly 80% at the FT line.  $9?  I’ll take two!

For the rest of the sleepers, you can see for yourself how many $1 guys there are after the top 50.  Players like Luis Scola with huge upside this season will be going for bargain basement prices and you don’t want to miss out by blowing your wad too early.  Patience is a virtue fellas, try to remember that on draft day.
