Week 7 Running Back (RB) Ranks and Analysis – Fantasy Football 2013

Running Back appears to be much deeper than in years past. Unexpected bigtime contributions to fantasy teams from guys like Eddie Lacy, Reggie Bush, and Knowshon Moreno have teams not knowing who to start. Several questions also remain. Is Stevan Ridley the guy in New England? When is C.J. Spiller going to be back to his old self? Is Joseph Randle, filling in for Demarco Murray, a worthy fill in? So many things have changed since Week 1 and they are shown in the rankings.

Feel free to post all comments and questions below, I respond to all of our readers.  If you want multiple opinions on who you should start in week 7, join us in the forums as we feature one of the fastest growing fantasy sports communities online today.

Week 7
1Adrian PetersonMINPrayers  go out to AP as he lost his 2 year old child. Wish him the best, and as always, remains at the top of our rankings.16.2@NYG
2LeSean McCoyPHIBeen arguably the most dominant RB so far. No reason to think he won’t keep up his amazing season against Dallas.18.2DAL
3Matt ForteCHIHorrid run defense and a guy who has been killing it in his new offense. Top 5 RB this week.15.1@WSH
4Jamaal CharlesKCTough matchup, but Charles doesn’t seem able to be contained.19.4HOU
5Marshawn LynchSEABig game in Week 6, expect him to keep it up against the Cardinals who they should be up all game against.16.9@ARI
6Reggie BushDETHe’s been incredible so far. That’s why he’s ranked this highly, but the Bengals run defense has also been a disappointment.16.5CIN
7Arian FosterHOUBig Week 6. The Texan’s struggles don’t seem to be slowing him down.14.2@KC
8Eddie LacyGBCrazy high workload for a guy in a pass first offense. We’ll see if it keeps up.8.6CLE
9Doug MartinTBSo far has been a disappointment. He hasn’t been awful, but definitely hasn’t been great.10@ATL
10Trent RichardsonINDGetting the carries, just waiting for him to breakout. Week 7 doesn’t sound like a bad time, right Trent?7.6DEN
11Knowshon MorenoDEN3 TDs in Week 6. Showing shades of former Joseph Addai in a Peyton Manning offense.16.2@IND
12Alfred MorrisWASLooks to be over his rib injury. Tough matchup against the Bears knocks him down in Week 7.11.6CHI
13Frank GoreSFNobody at RB is more consistent on a week to week basis.11.7@TEN
14Le’Veon BellPITWeek 6 was predictably poor against the Jets run defense. Ravens – Steelers is always a grind it out affair.13BAL
15Giovani BernardCINIncredibly electric player. Weak Lions defense won’t be able to slow him down.11@DET
16Ray RiceBALHe’s been a bust so far. Can’t bench him because of his name, but definitely gets moved down.8.5@PIT
17Fred JacksonBUFPretty much the Bills top back with Spiller dealing with a bum ankle. Start him until Spiller shows he’s healthy.12@MIA
18Stevan RidleyNEUnclear if he will come into Week 7 as the featured back. Big Week 6 would suggest he will. Either way, he’s playing a tough Jets defense.8.4@NYJ
19C.J. SpillerBUFCan’t bench superstars, but until his ankle is fully healed he won’t be the same player.7.2@MIA
20Zac StacySTLLooks good as the Rams top running back. Panthers run defense is tough, but he’s set his expectations high.5.7@CAR
21Deangelo WilliamsCARShould have a nice week with a  pancake matchup against the Rams. Has played solid in Stewart’s absense.9.2STL
22Maurice Jones – DrewJACComing off a couple of good games, a good
matchup against the Chargers may allow him to keep it up.

23Bilal powellNYJNeeds to get his season back on track. Jets wouldn’t mind it if he chose against the Patriots to do so.9.1NE
24Lamar MillerMIAStarting to steal the full job away from Thomas.7BUF
25Joseph RandleDALShould take over the full Murray workload in Week 7. Eagles can’t stop the run, and he isn’t  a bad FLEX play.4.6@PHI
26Ryan MatthewsSD6.5@JAC
27Danny WoodheadSDHas looked better than Mathews recently adding in yardage through the air. Easy matchup could mean a solid FLEX play.8.7@JAC
28Jacquizz RodgersATLWith Jackson likely out again, he has outplayed Snelling thus far.8.1TB
29Chris JohnsonTENHuge disappointment so far. Don’t expect any breakouts against the 49ers.8.4SF

Should I drop Kendall Wright for Andre Ellington? Thanks

    • mikesherman

If you need RB depth over WR depth, I’d do it. All things being equal, I’d rather have Ellington who has more upside.

  • Travis

I picked up Joseph Randle, but not sure if I should start him. I have Jamaal Charles and Matt Forte starting RBs, and Reggie Bush in the flex. Should I take a chance and start Randle over Bush this week?

    • mikesherman

Hell no don’t start him. The guys you’re starting are superstars. Don’t start some backup over them.

After Matthew Stafford’s big game last week against the Browns, it has me wondering if I should start him over Matt Ryan, who is going up against Tampa Bay. Advice?

    • mikesherman

I agree with you. Ryan s going to be a bit lost without White and Jones. Stafford has huge potential.
