Week 6 – Fantasy Football 2013 – Quarterback Matchup Ranker
|Matchups to target|
|QB to target|
|Dallas Cowboys||25.36||Robert Griffin III|
|San Diego Chargers||25.24||Andrew Luck|
|New York Giants||23.36||Jay Cutler|
|Washington Redskins||22.38||Tony Romo|
|Denver Broncos||21.90||Chad Henne|
|Philadelphia Eagles||21.74||Mike Glennon|
|Jacksonville Jaguars||21.17||Peyton Manning|
|Green Bay Packers||20.42||Joe Flacco|
There are a few obvious must starts in this group. RG3, Andrew Luck, and Peyton Manning have their owners salivating over this juicy matchup, while early season risers like Tony Romo and Jay Cutler have reached the point where they should be started in most formats. Only pause for concern with Cutler is facing the Giants on a short week, but the Giants defense hasn’t shown the ability to stop anyone, so he should still be a top 10 QB at the end of the week.
How about some sleepers for owners in 2 QB leagues? Both Henne and Glennon should have solid weeks, Henne because his team will fall behind and he will be forced to take to the air, and Glennon thanks to the Eagles uptempo game will get the ball back early and often. These QB’s are obviously off the 1 QB radar, but could fill in for owners that have Matt Ryan or Ryan Tannehill on a bye week.
|Matchups to avoid|
|QB to be cautious with|
|Carolina Panthers||9.54||Matt Cassel|
|Tennessee Titans||11.02||Russell Wilson|
|San Francisco 49ers||11.91||Carson Palmer|
|New England Patriots||12.04||Drew Brees|
|Cleveland Browns||12.25||Matthew Stafford|
|Seattle Seahawks||12.25||Ryan Fitzpatrick|
|Kansas City Chiefs||12.56||Terrelle Pryor|
|New Orleans Saints||12.64||Tom Brady|
|Indianapolis Colts||12.7||Philip Rivers|
|Pittsburgh Steelers||12.85||Geno Smith|
A few names you would have been avoiding anyway – Matt Cassel, Carson Palmer, and Ryan Fitzpatrick have terrible matchups. Geno Smith landed on more than one fantasy players list after a solid week 5 performance, but the Steelers are much better in the secondary than the Falcons.
How about Drew Brees and Tom Brady both on this list? Obviously, the game is expected to be a shootout, but the Saints defense is vastly improved, and Brady has looked awful so far this season, so the game could be much lower scoring than previously anticipated. Adjust your expectations accordingly.
