Week 13 – Wide Receiver Matchups

Which wide receivers have the best matchups this week against opposing defenses? Which have the worst? Find the answer to those questions here.

These “best and worst” weekly matchups are calculated based on the amount of fantasy points each defense has yielded on average per game to their opponents thus far this season.

This article focuses specifically on how many fantasy points each defense has given up to wide receivers of the opposing team.

Unless your fantasy football team is stocked full of perennial studs, it’s extremely important to consider what defenses your players are facing each week in order to know whether or not you should be worried about your expected production out of them.

9Washington Redskins25.15Victor CruzHakeem NicksRueben Randle

Michael Floyd has put two together two consecutive 100+ yard receiving games, and could very well see a third this week against the worst fantasy secondary in the NFL. The Packers have had QB issues while Aaron Rodgers has been out, but the Packers wide receivers shouldn’t have any issue getting open against an awful Lions pass defense. Kendall Wright and Justin Hunter shined last week against the Raiders, and face another weak pass defense in the Colts this week.

My two sleeper picks for this week are Terrance Williams and Rueben Randle. Williams is the definition of a boom or bust fantasy player, but the Raiders secondary has been scorched recently, and there will be a little extra excitement in the air on Thanksgiving Day.  Rueben Randle has been a pleasant surprise this year. With Hakeem Nicks dealing with an injury and Victor Cruz struggling, Randle will see a handful of opportunities to shine against a bad Redskins pass defense.

T.Y. Hilton started off hot in Reggie Wayne‘s absense, but has since gone cold. A visit with the Titans surely won’t help his cause. Vincent Jackson has continued his tendency to disappear in certain games, and he very well could disappear again against a stout Panthers defense.  It’s a toss up which Patriots wide receiver will stand out each game, but the Patriots are sure to score plenty of points against a Texans team that has seemed to give up hope.

There is a lot of excitement surrounding the return of Percy Harvin. However, I would still hold back from playing him this week. He still isn’t getting a ton of playing time and faces a very solid Saints defense this week.  Marques Colston owners should also be wary of his matchup against the incredible Seahawks defense. If you are going back and forth between Colston and a second option, I would lean towards another option.
