Week 12 Quarterback Rankings and Matchups – 2013 Fantasy Football

What a mess this past week was at quarterback.  Keenum’s owners were hosed by shoddy coaching in Houston, as Case threw his first pick of the season… and was promptly benched in favor of the turnover happy Schaub.  Still can’t make heads or tails of that decision, but let us press on to the week 12 quarterback rankings and matchups and let bygones be bygones.

The question marks ??

So many unknowns heading into week 12, and the biggest question of all will be what is going on with Case Keenum.  He wasn’t having a terrible day, as he slowly crept up on 200 yards passing with a TD, but one pick later, and coach Kubiak decided he had seen enough as he sent Matt Schaub out to send his team to defeat.  Kubiak announced Keenum as the starter for week 12, and I sincerely believe he will leave him in this time against a weak Jaguars secondary, so I will keep Keenum just inside the top 10.

The other 3 unknowns are Matt McGloin (solid performance in week 11 against the Texans), Christian Ponder, and Geno Smith.  Smith will likely retain his starting job, and if Pryor remains injured, McGloin should see another start for the Raiders.  The Vikings QB situation is a mess, and best left untouched, even in 2 QB leagues.  Any of the 3 Minnesota quarterbacks could end up taking the field in week 12… all with little upside.

Time to trust Tom Brady again?

I don’t know that trust is the right word, but how many times have we seen this Brady/Manning saga played out on a national stage, and it always seems to come down to the final possession.  I’m counting on yet another shootout as we add another chapter to the book, and think this could be one of the weeks where Brady’s owners can consider him a “must start”.

Seriously? RG3 ranked 15th? what’s up with hating on RG3?

I’m with you KJ… I was absolutely screaming at him to start throwing the ball. Couldn’t believe he got the game as close as he did… and he did it once he started throwing. I don’t have any WSH WRs for that reason…and wouldn’t take RGIII if he was offered to me!

So I grabbed Eli off of waivers. so you would recommend starting Eli over RG3?

I have Dalton, Keenum & McGloin. Looking at just the defence againtsQBs its obvious to play against JAGS D, but the Jags are hungry/ can only get better.Who has more skill/ wepons/moxy to deserve this weeks start?*(I have 3OAK wr/rb) Please and thank you..

Dalton has been trending down, while McGloin faces a tough pass D in the Titans. Keenum obviously has the coaching question marks, but his matchup is superior, and he should be the start this week

I’ll take Keenum in a nice home matchup against the Jags over RG3 against the daunting 49ers

So I have Keenum and Brady, started Keenum last week and got the shi* end of the stick. What do yall think about this week? Keenum against one of the worst passing defenses, or brady in a potential high scoring shootout?

My only worry with Brady is the weather. Heard it will be cold and windy tonight, but he should have an easier time than Peyton as Brady is more used to it. I’d say that Keenum is actually the safer play tonight, while Brady will be the high upside gamble

Oh also, I have Ray Rice and Bobby Rainey, after Rice’s first actual nice game, should I keep starting him against the Jets D? Or put in Rainey since he’s been playing solidly, against the lions D?

      November 24, 2013 at 12:04

I’d put Rainey in… that Jets D has been shutting down RB’s all season long

What about kaepernick? I want to start Case Keenan, but surveys are saying to go with Colin Kaepernick…

Kaep just hasn’t had the consistency for me to trust him this year. Love the matchup, but Case has a solid one as well. For me, personally, it is Keenum this week over Kaep

I have Andrew Luck, Cam Newton, and Case Keenum. I like Keenum’s matchup the best, but am worried about his coaches pulling him again. Is it worth the risk to start him, or should I go with one of the others despite their tough match ups?

In that scenario I would personally go with Cam Newton and count on his legs to make the difference in scoring

Smith has the better matchup and has been pretty consistent. I would go with him over Kaep this week
