It has been an exciting fantasy baseball season and the final week is rapidly approaching and fantasy owners will need to have a roster of hot bats ready to put away their opponent. Here are some of the best options for our fantasy baseball members.
All stats referenced will be from the last 7 days heading into Friday September 14th, 2012
Lorenzo Cain – OF – Kansas City Royals
One of my favorite sleepers heading into fantasy baseball 2012, has been a bit of a bust seeing how much time he missed due to injury. Well Cain is trying his best to make up for lost time, and he has hit .400 (12 for 30) with 2 HR, 6 RBI, and 2 SB in the past week. If you need an elite combination of power and speed, you will want to pick up Cain if he is available in your leage.
Salvador Perez – C – Kansas City Royals
Sticking with the Royals theme here, Perez is another solid pickup if you have a catcher who is struggling. Perez is also hitting .400 (10 for 25) with 2 HR and 6 RBI. He should continue to see the majority of starts at catcher for the Royals and is one of the hottest bats at a shallow position. Need catching help? Add Perez!
Donovan Solano – 2B/SS/3B/OF – Miami Marlins
Having trouble in the runs scored/ stolen base department? Solano is a solid who provides depth at 2B, 3B, OF, and SS. While he won’t hit for power, he has hit .346 (9 for 26) 0 HR, 5 RBI, and 2 SB. Solano also averaged just over a run per game as he scored 7 runs in his team’s six games. Even if you don’t need Solano now, keep him in mind as a solid last round sleeper for 2013 who will be eligible at multiple positions.
Josh Donaldson – C/3B – Oakland Athletics
One of the most injury plagued positions in fantasy baseball this season is third base, and Josh Donaldson has heated up at just the right time for the Oakland A’s and fantasy owners. While he will sit a game or two per week, he could be a solid backup in daily formats where you can plug him in once you know for sure he is in the lineup. In the past week Donaldson hit .381 with 1 HR and 2 RBI over 21 at-bats.
