Week 12 of fantasy baseball 2013 is just around the corner, and there are a plethora of two start pitchers to choose from in the week ahead.  You will notice there are a number of tier 4/5 pitchers currently on pace for two starts next week, so make sure you grab the high upside guys early, especially owners in weekly leagues who can make moves now!

As always, this article will be updated on Saturday, giving you the official two start pitchers for week 12.  Remember, this is just a preview, and so far this season I have yet to put out the rankings on Tuesday and not have to make an adjustment by Saturday.  Injuries and rainouts happen, which forces teams to adjust their rotations accordingly.

News and Notes – 2 start pitchers -week 12 – fantasy baseball 2013

    Sneaky Waiver Wire Pickups

    Corey Kluber – Cleveland Indians

Kluber has been surprisingly decent so far in 2013, with an ERA in the mid 4’s, but should really catch the deep league owners eye is the strikeouts at over a batter per inning.  With 2 solid matchups within the division against the Royals and Twins in week 12, Kluber could be a solid value if you are looking to hit it and quit in next week.

Miss the boat already on Francisco Liriano and Andrew Cashner (both of whom are ranked in the top 3 tiers?)  Give Jacob Turner a try.  Formerly regarded as one of the top prospects in the game, Turner has been overshadowed by the arrival of Jose Fernandez in Miami, but through his first 13 innings this season, Turner’s ERA sits at 0.69 with a record of 1-0.

    Free Fallers

Ian Kennedy has gone from a front of the rotation ace… to a guy that has fallen flat on his face!  The ERA sitting at 5.70 is clearly not what owners are looking for, and the only reason he isn’t ranked in the 5th tier is the juicy matchup with Miami early in week 12.  If you play in a shallow league, I would wait until after the Miami game to try and get any value out of Kennedy.  Perhaps he can salvage a 7 inning performance with 8 or so strikeouts, and you can then flip him for a SP3 in standard leagues.

Dan Haren has fallen into the 5th tier, and is not a guy I would consider in most mixed leagues at this point.  His straight over the top delivery has made him one of the more hittable pitchers in the big leagues, and probably the worst pitcher in Washington’s rotation.  Drop him to the waiver wire where he belongs, I don’t see him snapping out of this funk anytime soon.
