Top WR in PPR for fantasy football 2012

This article will concentrate on our top projected WR for PPR formats in 2012.  Our rankings are based purely on projected fantasy points, but I will include the number of passes we project each wide receiver to haul in to help make your decision.  If you play in a format that assigns points differently, these rankings could change.

#6 – 10

#6 – Demaryius Thomas – 77 Receptions (1380 receiving yards, 12 TD’s)

#7 -  Percy Harvin – 84 Receptions (967 receiving yards, 8 TD’s, 480 rushing yards, 3 TD’s)

#8 – A.J. Green – 81 Receptions (1404 receving yards, 10 TD’s)

#9 –  Robert Meachem – 76 Receptions (1184 receiving yards, 12 TD’s)

#10 – Wes Welker – 106 Receptions (1310 receing yards, 6 TD’s)

Percy Harvin will be a dual threat for the Vikings this season rushing and receiving, and with Christian Ponder who should improve in his second season we see Harvin hauling in over 80 receptions this season.  Wes Welker is the biggest beneficiary of the PPR format, he is projected at #15 WR on our non-PPR draft board due to his lack of TD’s, but in PPR formats he gets the boost to the top 10.  One of Tom Brady’s favorite targets in the open field, Welker should see plenty of catches once again in 2012, but Gronkowski and Hernandez figure to be the favorite targets inside the redzone.

#11 – 15

#11 – Marques Colston – 78 Receptions (1385 receiving yards, 9 TD’s)

#12 – Victor Cruz – 85 Receptions (1410 receiving yards, 7 TD’s)

#13 – Larry Fitzgerald – 89 Receptions (1376 receiving yards, 6 TD’s)

#14 – Jordy Nelson – 80 Receptions (1303 receiving yards, 8 TD’s)

#15 – Jeremy Maclin – 80 Receptions (1267 receiving yards, 8 TD’s)

Victor Cruz who was the breakout sensation of 2011 is just outside our top ten WR in PPR formats this season.  The Arizona Cardinals figure to be playing from behind again in 2012, which will provide Mr. Larry Fitzgerald the opportunity to catch nearly 90 balls again this season.

#16 – 20

#16 – Hakeem Nicks – 88 Receptions (1167 receiving yards, 8 TD’s)

#17 – Mike Wallace – 70 Receptions (1389 receiving yards, 6 TD’s)

#18 – Dwayne Bowe – 83 Receptions (1140 receiving yards, 8 TD’s)

#19 – Greg Jennings – 74 Receptions (1225 receiving yards, 8 TD’s)

#20 – Brandon Lloyd – 80 Receptions (1180 receiving yards, 7 TD’s)

This group brings some of the biggest surprises, as Mike Wallace falls from our #11 non-ppr WR to #16.  Greg Jennings is already dealing with injuries in the preseason, and is a risky pick in the top 20 WR for PPR 2012.

Ok those are our top 20 WR in PPR formats for fantasy football 2012.  If there are any questions or comments (I’m sure there will be) please post them in the forums so the community can get involved.
