Steve Smith – Panthers

Week 5- Steve Smith has gotten a bit worse every week this season, and that’s a tread that should continue in Week 5. The Seahawks Defense has shut down better than Smith, and he’s just a risk/reward WR2  in this one.

Week 4- Cam Newton has been a big dissapointment so far, but Smith hasn’t suffered. You should expect more of the same from him in week 4, and should stay in your fantasy lineup as a solid WR2.

Week 1 – Cam Newton and Steve Smith are eager to get their second season together underway, and the Tampa Bay Bucs should allow them to get the ball rolling in style.  Smith is a must start in all formats for this favorable matchup against the Bucs as a WR2.

Preseason Analysis

Steve Smith has been doing his thing for the Carolina Panthers since 2001, and while that will inevitably take a toll on his body, he had one of his best seasons in 2011 as he caught 79 passes for 1394 yards. We see a slight regression as his age will eventually catch up with him, and expect Smith to be right around 1,000 yards receiving at seasons end. Whether that is due to injury or not remains to be seen, but Smith will be 33 this season, and there is a chance he loses a step. Draft him as a #3 WR in the fifth or sixth round of fantasy drafts.
