Week 5- The Bills face the 49ers Defense. That immediately seems like a bad thing, but it could be a good one in this case. The Bills can’t run against the run, and that means that Johnson should see several targets in this one as the Bills air it out. He’s a WR2 with upside in this one.
Week 4- Johnson has an OK matchup against the new and improved Patriots Defense. He’s a solid option in week 4, but don’t expect him to walkover to Pats like he may have last year.
Week 3- Steve Johnson gets the Browns Defense without Joe Haden and could have a big game. David Nelson is out for the year with an injury and that makes Steve Johnson the only target in the passing game. Without Joe Haden, that makes the Browns a relatively easy matchup for Johnson. Start him with confidence as your WR2.
Week 1 – Steve Johnson draws a tough matchup against Revis Island in week 1. While Johnson had some decent stats against Revis and the Jets last season, for the week 1 opener we are regarding him as a low WR3 in what figures to be a low scoring affair between the Bills and Jets. You can start Johnson this week, just don’t be surprised if he puts up below average stats for your squad.
Preseason Analysis
Steve Johnson figures to lead the Bills in receiving in 2012, and most of his success will depend on his QB Ryan Fitzpatrick. Fitzpatrick came out firing in 2011, but tapered off at the end of the season which affected his WR corps. This season we see Steve Johnson as a solid #2 WR that has injury concerns with his groin as he missed time last season, and in training camp with seperate groin injuries. If you don’t like taking injury risks, then leave Johnson alone, otherwise look his way in the 5th or 6th rounds of fantasy drafts.

EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ – NOVEMBER 27: Steve Johnson #13 of the Buffalo Bills celebrating after scoring a touchdown during a game against the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium on November 27, 2011 in East Rutherford, New Jersey. The Bills were penalized 15 yards for excessive celebration as Johnson was apparently mimicking the self-inflicted gunshot wound of Plaxico Burress #17 of the New York Jets.
