Dennis Pitta

Week 6 - Two straight weeks is a disturbing trend for one of the breakout TE’s from the first 3 weeks.  Pitta recorded just 3 receptions for 22 yards in week 5, and he drops to a borderline TE1 for his week 6 matchup with the Cowboys.  If you have a better matchup with another TE, you may want to bench Pitta for this one.

Week 5 - That is what we get for the sudden Pitta love, he pulls a disappearing act in week 4, and doesn’t record a single reception.  One game does not spoil a season, but it certainly didn’t help our fantasy owners.  Keep Pitta active in most formats and consider week 4 an aberration, he should get back on track for week 5.

Week 4 - Pitta has been one of the biggest surprises at the TE position, in the new semi uptempo offense of the Baltimore Ravens.  Pitta is in the top 20 for targets per game in the NFL, among ALL positions.  For that reason he will be a top 10 TE heading into week 4, and fantasy owners that picked him up off waivers will likely face a difficult decision whether to start him or the TE they drafted in 2012.

Dennis Pitta saw his first full season of action for the Ravens in 2011, but only started 2 games.  Having to play second fiddle to Ed Dickson limits Pitta’s effectiveness, and he should once again go undrafted for fantasy football 2012.
