Joe Flacco

Week 10 - This one may surprise some of our readers, but Joe Flacco gets to face the Oakland Raiders in week 10, and that is the reason for his bump into the top 10 QBs in fantasy football.  Not sure who to start in week 10?  I’ll take the guy running the hurry up offense against a terrible Raiders secondary and see what happens.

Week 6 - Flacco (and the Ravens) didn’t manage to score a TD in week 5 as Baltimore beat K.C. 9-6.  Flacco threw just 27 times, completing 13 passes for 187 yards, 0 TD’s and 1 INT.  He draws another tough matchup with the Dallas Cowboys defense in week 6, making him a low QB1 once again.

Week 5 - Flacco has officially established himself as a QB1 for the first time this season with another impressive performance against the Browns in week 4, he was 28 for 46 with 356 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT.  The Ravens appear to be committed to letting their QB throw as often as possible, as evidenced by his 46 attempts, and Flacco owners will have a tough decision in week 5 as they probably drafted him to be their QB2 this season.

Week 4 - Flacco is officially approaching QB1 territory, as he threw for 382 yards, 3 TD’s and 1 INT in week 3 vs the Patriots.  One more performance like that, and he will be  a recommended play on a weekly basis, which would be a big surprise from where he started the season.  Week 4 sees the Ravens facing the Browns who will be without the defensive presence of Joe Haden, and Flacco should be started in all 2 QB formats for this week.  If you play in a deeper 1 QB – 12 team league, and have 2 borderline QB’s, Flacco could be a decent option in your league as well.  Not sure if you should start Flacco?  Log in to the forums and ask the community.

Week 2 – The often overlooked Joe Flacco came out showcasing a new hurry up offense in week 1 vs the Bengals.  It was a surprisingly effective offense, as not many fantasy owners realized that Flacco could flourish in that style of offense.  Now being targeted as a solid backup option, or second QB in 2 QB formats, don’t forget about Flacco as it looks like he could be in line for a career season.

Week 1 – Joe Flacco and the Ravens start off 2012 against the Bengals and Andy Dalton.  The Bengals had the 9th best passing defense a season ago, and this game figures to be low scoring and played on the ground.  Fantasy owners should not be looking to start Flacco for this week 1 matchup.

Preseason Analysis

Joe Flacco is another QB who plays for a team with a top tier RB, and stifling defense.  This translates into an offense that doesn’t take many chances, and that is reflected in Flacco’s career numbers.  He hasn’t yet thrown for 4,000 yards or 30 TD’s, and we advise fantasy owners to steer clear in 2012.
