Blaine Gabbert

Week 6 - Gabbert is on a bye week, and remains a non-factor in fantasy leagues.

Week 2 – We thought so little of Gabbert heading into week 1, that we didn’t even give him his own writeup.  Well 260 yards and 2 TD’s later he certainly has our attention.  Sure, Gabbert was facing the Vikings defense, which figures to be one of the leagues worst in 2012, but he showed the ability to stand in the pocket and deliver the ball, and we don’t want our fantasy owners to miss out on a solid backup QB if that is what he is truly developing into.  At this time he is a low QB2, or waiver wire fodder, but with another impressive performance could be one of the more plesant surprises in 2012.

Preseason Analysis

Gabbert should be one of the last names on your mind come draft day.  In his rookie season he threw for just 12 TD’s with 11 INT’s and many experts believe he is unable to compose himself in the pocket.  He looks skittish and may never develop into the QB the Jaguars thought they drafted.  The one positive in Gabbert’s offense should be Justin Blackmon at wide receiver, but even a slight uptick in Gabbert’s numbers won’t be enough to make him a draftable option this season.
