Week 10 - Dalton keeps popping in and out of our top 10, and for the upcoming week we have him on the outside looking in thanks to his matchup with the New York Giants. You can expect the G-men to get after the QB in this matchup, trying to force Dalton to make quick decisions leading to an INT or two. If Dalton is your starting QB you can roll with him, but we like him as a QB2 for week 10.
Week 6 - Dalton had a bit of a down week against the Dolphins as he completed just 26 of 43 passes for 234 yards, 1 TD, and 2 INT’s. He is still a top 10 QB in terms of scoring heading into week 6, and is a low QB1 for his start against the banged up Cleveland Browns defense.
Week 5 - Through his solid play week after week Dalton has steadily climbed our ranks to the top 10 where you find him now. He didn’t have the sort of game that blows owners away in week 4, he was 20 for 31/ 244 yards/ 2 TD’s and 1 INT against the Jags. He gets another nice matchup against the Dolphins in week 5, and is a recommended start ,especially in leagues where your starter is on a bye week.
Week 4 - Dalton continues to improve his game, and week 3 was his best game of the season so far as he threw for 328 yards, 3 TD’s and 1 INT. Week 4 is a nice matchup as the Bengals take on the Jaguars, and Dalton is a solid QB2 play for this week. In 1 QB leagues, he most likely will only be started if your QB1 is on a bye week.
Week 2 – Dalton put up a whopping 6 fantasy points in week 1 vs the Ravens defense, and in week 2 he draws an underrated Browns passing defense. Dalton is once again not an advisable play, even in 2 QB formats.
Week 1 – Andy Dalton leads off the 2012 campaign with a matchup against one of the leagues toughest defenses in the Baltimore Ravens. He is not an advisable play for week 1, and should be benched in the majority of formats.
Preseason Analysis
Andy Dalton had a successful rookie campaign by NFL standards as he completed 58% of his passes and ended the year with 20 TD’s and 13 INT’s. The numbers weren’t good enough to make him a standout fantasy option, and for fantasy football 2012 we have him projected to finish just inside the top 20 QB’s. We are projecting a slight uptick in numbers, but the Bengals have a ways to go out their skill positions, and Dalton will have limited weapons to work with this season.
