Confirmed Two Start Pitchers for Week 14 (July 1st through July 7th)

This was probably the calmest week of the season for the starting rotations in Major League Baseball.  There were no rainouts, and hardly any rotation changes had to be made, meaning most of the projected 2 start pitchers for the week ahead (from my article on Tuesday) are now confirmed.

I went ahead and added in the stats to help assist your decision making, and as usual I will have a few remarks at the bottom of the article about my favorite streamer/waiver wire guys to snag for the week ahead.

If you have any questions or comments for me, please post those in the forums where we are discussing fantasy baseball throughout the season.

News and Notes – 2 start pitchers for week 14

Before I get to the waiver wire guys, here are a few interesting notes from this week’s rankings:

Jeff Locke – This guy is now in must start territory.  An ERA hovering around 2.00, 7-1 win/loss for one of the hottest teams in baseball, and 2 solid matchups with the Phillies and Cubs.

Jered Weaver – His 2 starts haven’t been confirmed by MLB.com yet.  So far only Yahoo is reporting him as active for Tuesday vs STL.

Jose Fernandez – Kid is proving his resilience.  ERA stands just a tad under 3, and he is striking out a batter per inning.  Obviously the wins will be tough to come by, but Fernandez should remain active in all lineups as he has plenty to offer in mixed league play.

Week 14 Streamers/ Waiver Wire grabs:

We can safely assume the majority of the top 2 tiers are gone in mixed league play, along with a majority of the tier 3 pitchers, but somewhat surprisingly we find…

Jason Marquis – SP – San Diego Padres

Marquis squares off with one of the worst offenses in the league in his first matchup against the Marlins, and then has a decent shot against the Nats in the second game of the week.  I wasn’t high on Marquis to begin the season, but the Padres are in the hunt and playing well, Jason should be given a look this week as a decent 2 start option.

Samuel Deduno – SP – Minnesota Twins

Deduno is being overlooked because of his low K totals this season, but for owners in deeper mixed leagues he could be worth a speculative add.  The 3.32 ERA keeps his team in the game, giving Deduno (and his fantasy owners) the chance to add a W every time out, and while the matchup in TOR for the second game of the week will be a question mark, Deduno gets the injury riddled Yankees at home in Minnesota for his first game of the week.

Confirmed start information is through either CBSSports.com, MLB.com or Yahoo.com

Jose Alvarez? Miggy is 5/15 against Dickey and the Blue Jays are running out of steam.
